You found the house and property I've been looking for in Virginia. The kitchen needs a little redo and gas for cooking though. I love old houses with character, land and room to breathe inside and out. Much happiness to you!

Neat looking place. Could you save a bedroom for me for the winter time? [:D] I hope you all are comfortable there, and enjoy the room!

Can I move into the barn? I can do automotive and equipment repair, lawn care, and test fire any questionable firearms that might come to your shop. All I need is a roof over my head.

Many many boxes! And they all need going through. I plan on getting an "update" done on the kitchen. I really like gas stoves also....but the stove in there right now (and the fridge) is nearly new. I plan on doing some other things that need done first and then getting the kitchen done a bit later.

My 15 yr old is crying right now.....we were planning on keeping the horse that lives there now but decided not to just today. It isn't broken and we just have too much to deal with to have a horse that does nothing but eat to handle along with it all. Maybe later we will get a horse....but I would rather have one we can ride...or at least lead by halter. This girl is skiddish.

Great place and with ten acres too.
I'd have some big projects going on in that nice barn after converting it to a shop.
I need a place like that in Central Va. with one or two less bedrooms.
Is it on a basement or crawl space?

crawlspace....when we had it inspected our guy told us it was built like a TANK. The beams are "huge" and the flooring is spaced in smaller sections so HELLO GUNSAFE! I was worried about where it may be safe to place....but according to him just about anywhere we want is fine. I'm a little sad about the horse.....but its just going next door....no big deal (except to the crying blonde in the other room here.)

Tell her jacob said to wait and get one she can ride, unless she feels like going out there, pumping the wells for water, throwing hay for them, every day, rain snow or shine.. we had horses, when i was young, and i visited them until they died, some BIG horses, Cane sugar blocks - the little ones for coffee, they love those :)

    EDIT:

Make her clean the doo doo up too [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Replace the horse with a couple of fat calves and in a few months, fill the freezer.

Then we would have another crying episode in (at the Barbeque!)

We are thinking about a few goats to keep the weeds down in the back part of the property. We may do cows at some time....but I've never delt with them. I had horses growing up. I just don't have time to mess with a wild mare right now. When I was 16 we had several horses....stalls are NO fun to clean...and hay is a summer nightmare of mine. Anyone who has filled a hay loft will agree....your hands and back shure pay the price!

Looks great! Congratulations. You will want to get that ivy off of the brick chimney as soon as possible unless you want to tuck point it sometime in the near future. Again, looks great!

It's a beautiful Home - congratulations on a great pick.

Girls and horses belong together. I credit having horses to the great successful lives my Girls are leading.

But, it only works if they commit to ALL the care.

They also need to REALLY love the nags.

Once again, that looks like a wonderful Home.

The bottom floor was built in the 50's and the top floor added and some updates done in the 70's. There is new carpet, paint and some things done to it already....but there are a couple things that need attention. We will do a couple little wiring projects to make us feel better about things and it could use new light fixtures in just about every room (pretty dark in some rooms.)

I love the layout of the house.....but because we want the kids upstairs and us downstairs...my 11 yr old is getting the master bedroom. Funny huh? I'll get some pics of the inside asap.
