Semi auto's...........Suck!
At the range some of these guys are pathetic. With their SKS or AK clone they can't hit diddly. One guy couldn't even keep them in a 2 foot circle at 50 yards. Meanwhile he is throwing his brass over onto the next shooter. "Beam me up Scotty"!

He Dog is right, your problem shouldn't be with the semi autos but with the tools behind the trigger. Both the SKS and AK, very different btw, are fairly accurate even in the hands of the average shooter. 0 -

Unfortunately these knuckleheads do exist, and seem to schedule their range time to coincide with mine. Fortunately they are in the minority, most assault rifle fans are more competent.0 -
How strange. I can shoot semi-autos just fine, and have little problem with them. I keep them clean and well-oiled, and with the exception of having some fun every so often, I normally take my time between shots. Yeah, I'll admit that sometimes it is a blast (pardon the pun) burning a clip, but when I do, it is mostly to entertain myself and never to hit a target. 0 -
at my club we have 3 separate stalls for those type of guns.usually everybody follows the rule. it does help,but i know not every club has that luxary. 0 -
Yep! We get the RAMBO characters at our range to. They shoot 30 rounds as fast as they can pull the trigger and run through about 10 mags full (didnt even hit the target ) in just a few minutes and then leave thinking they had accomplished something.[:0]
Even some of the pistol shooters with High cap mags, bang em off as fast as they can, and wonder why they cant hit the target..[;)]0 -

Last time I took the FAL out, I did some rapid don't-care-where-it-hits-as-long-as-its-the-backstop shooting, but I had a section of the range to myself and no one was gonna be catching that brass. Gotta test the new mags somehow...
However, I typically don't go wild on the trigger, occasional double taps and thats it. I also typically try to either be on the far right of the range or have something to catch/deflect the brass as it is ejected. Edit - suppose I could turn the gas down/off but thats no fun...0 -
As an aside, putting a few high cap mags through a center fire semi-auto in rapid fire is detrimental to bore "health", lots of heat generated, and not many accurate shots too boot. 0 -

I understand the difference, as I assume all here do. All semi-autos are not assault rifles, some may even be pistols, but ALL assault rifles are , at least, semi-automatic. I know, I made a "living" with one. Nit picking.0 -
The range I occasionally shoot at has these plastic mesh dividers put up between the seperate stalls. However, these are not totally effective, and sometimes you will occasionally get macked in the face by a wayward casing or two. But, they are better than nothing. 0 -
Well i have an SKS and Ak, most of the time I shoot them I dont go for accuracy, i go for fun. But if you were to put good ammo in one of those and actually try, they arent to bad out to 200yds. But you have to take them for what they are worth. Not everybody likes to buy a 1000 dollar gun and sit and shoot like and old man, 1 round after 1 round. To each his own 0 -
I was shooting in the tournament last Thursday, and every couple of shots, I got hit somewhere on the head (usually in the face) by brass from the guy 2 lanes down. One even pegged me right on the tip of the nose. I don't have a problem with semi-autos...it's the nature of the beast.
BTW, I don't think I mentioned this, but I shoot .22LR pistol comp.0 -

Get one of those for a .22 rifle and use the scattershot rounds that have the ends crimped instead of a plastic vile, and use it to rob a store. No rifling, no brass. Add a full-body covering of black fabric that covers every inch of skin, and use a voice scrambler, and it's damn near untraceable.0 -

Believe it or not- there are just a lot of crappy shooters out there that just can't hit the broad side of a barn. Last week I was at an indoor range shooting handguns. The place is located in a bad neighborhood and there are always alot of gang-banger types there. When I watch them shoot at very close distances-like 10 feet- they still can't hit a damn thing! They were watching me shoot and even though they were gang turds- one guy said "nice shooting sir". This turd called me sir? I guess they thought I was some kind of sharp-shooter. I consider myself above average at best. But I have SKS rifles and AK's I have no problem hitting my targets. And yes, they do spit out the empty casings far. Boo Hoo for you. Just move far away from the guys shooting these rifles.[V] 0 -
