UNITED STATES FLAG
anyone else upset about people placing a flag on their motor vehicle and running the speed limit or above. i thought the flag could be displayed in a parade at idle speeds but not at 55,65, or even 75 mph were the flag could be torn please dont tell me that i s your right to destory the flag if you want to. because if you do I WILL BLOCK YOUR POST . IF YOU DO NOT RESPECT THE FLAG ,AND THINK YOU CAN DO WANT YOU WNAT WITH IT PLEASE DO NOT REPLY

I think attaching a flag to any vehicle (even painting one on) is tacky. 0 -
That raises some good questions. I know the Patriot Guards travel with flags on their bikes, but I never paid attention as to the speed they traveled with flags up. Also it might just be the Patriot Guard flag until they arrive at a mission.
I always have my flag in my saddlebag and open it at the flag line events.

The best way to show yor flag on a auto or truck is to buy an nice sticker. Harley riders put shoulder flag patches on their jackets and they look great! But there is a certain way the stars have to face and if you screw up the club will let you know!
I am a vet! I would like to see more people display the flag in a mannor that shows respect for our flag and what it stands for.
Burning the Flag is a much bigger issue with me!0 -

I see the fire dept. flies it on the back of there trucks(check out some 911 pics or your local parade). Is it ok for them to do it? 0 -
I think anyone displaying the flag is OK.ie shirt,under wear,shorts or anything else is alright! Not all of us have a flag pole or house to properly display the old glory! A tatered flag on a car is better that none!I have two flags from my dad and father inlaw that I put up for special occasions.As long as some one is not burning or crapping on it,they can show it anyway they want!They may be idiots but they are still showing there suport!So the next time you see some one displaying the flag inappropriately think about this, they are trying

I'm happy to see American flags. Hell it's better then seeing a Mexican flag flying. There are far to few patriotic people in our country now, so I'm happy to see someone displaying the flag with pride.[^] 0 -

US warships display the flag while sailing flank speed and very often into winds. 35 knots for the ship and some 20-25 for wind is just about highway speed, they don't have a problem with it, why should the rest of us 0 -

KSUmarksman is correct. When a U. S. Navy vessel gets underway, as soon as the last line is free of the pier, the word is passed over the 1MC "Underway, Shift Colors". The flag is hauled down from the fantail and the Ensign is hoisted on the highest halyard. The Ensign stays up until the first line is on a cleat. Sometimes the Ensign gets pretty ragged from the underway beating it takes. It is simply replaced with a new Ensign, and the old one folded and stowed for disposal later.0 -

First, if our flag is tattered someone deserves an azz chewing!
Second, if our flag is displayed in anyway that is inappropriate someone deserves an azz chewing. That includes waring it,and putting something else on it. Both of which is so common these days. If one's vehechle is going at a rate of speed that causes our flag to flapping around in the wind then one is making a spectible of it. That is not honnoring anything, but one's own stupidity. Just like flying a newly aquired pair of panties off his car antenna.
Our flag is a symbol of our country, if one shows disrespect for a symbol then they are showing disrespect for what the symbol represents. There is a lot of wrong with our country. But in contrast to the good, the wrong is very little. As in all things the only way to get eliminate the negative is to concentrate on the positive. Negative can only beget negative not beget positive.

maybe i did not make myself clear . in the boyscouts i was taught to respect the flag , to treat it properly and display it in the proper fashion. it just upsets me to see a torn flag going down the hiway. as far as being on a jet going 500 mph i think it is painted so there would be on tears . no i was not in the service!had i had the chance i would have been there. there is nothing any more beautiful than to see the flag waving . no this issue was not intended for vets only , i just wanted people to respond and i figured they would be the first. as you see i go to bed early and get up early . it wasn't that i was backing down! 0 -

It's not a shame to see the flags attached to automobiles as long as the flag is replaced when the wind tears it. Allowing a TATTERED flag to fly is a shame.
Many PGR riders have flags attached to their motorcycles--small ones. When the large colors are attached, it is usually during an escort between an airport and funeral home or to the place of internment. That is typically a very slow ride.0 -

I have a flag flying in my front yard most of the time and it's lighted, both our vehicles have a flag sticker on the back window. I'm proud to display the greatest flag on earth with due respect for it. 0 -

When I fly the flag from my truck every mem. day,vet. day '4th of july etc,Its not to "make a specticle of it" ,but to remind people what that day is about.Its not about the day off from work,Its not about the three day week end,Its not about the bbq your going to have.Its about men and women that died so you CAN do those things. FYI my 75 year old mother sews the trailing edge of ALL my flags to reduce the tatered edges .when the edges do become tattered, I then give the flag to my scout master buddy for proper disposal.I hope I have made my point clear,And I mean no disrespect.0 -
