UNITED STATES FLAG
anyone else upset about people placing a flag on their motor vehicle and running the speed limit or above. i thought the flag could be displayed in a parade at idle speeds but not at 55,65, or even 75 mph were the flag could be torn please dont tell me that i s your right to destory the flag if you want to. because if you do I WILL BLOCK YOUR POST . IF YOU DO NOT RESPECT THE FLAG ,AND THINK YOU CAN DO WANT YOU WNAT WITH IT PLEASE DO NOT REPLY

I am a vet! I would like to see more people display the flag in a mannor that shows respect for our flag and what it stands for.
Burning the Flag is a much bigger issue with me!

...MOST Americans have no idea of the "proper" display of the flag, NOR even know there are proper standards for the display and care of the flag. Outright abuse should be against the law IMNSHO.
...I figure I am as patriotic as one can be, and unless the flag is abused, I'd rather see it than not see it; be it 10mph or 100mph.
...I would much rather see her flying than not flying, even though the display may not be 100% "by the book"; I don't have the time to be that nit-pickey.
...For me, I don't recall seeing a flag displayed on a vehicle driving the speed limit or above that "irritated" me. Old Glory still hanging at night not lit up as "called" for does not "irritate" me either, some just don't know better...but at least their flying her...[^]

I was in the cub scout, boy scouts, and then the Military. all three has taught me to respect the flag, from reville to retreat, saying goodbye to a military member, or driving, My cousin has a greater love for the flag. I can proudly say I tried my best to be like him. If you think that he takes the flag in vain. when he has a bad day, he still gets out to his flag pole to raise Old Glory. He has lost many friends. what gets me mad is these few individuals that think they know what is right. I have seen the presidential motorcade driving at breakneck speed, and YES the United States Flag was waving proudly. So son get over it.0 -

eboydell, I'm pretty much in agreement with you, but I would add that displaying the U. S. Flag upside down really burns my ass. I think I can understand the statement or protest these people are trying to make, but when I see it I'm not pissed at what they are protesting, but at the person who is displaying my Flag upside down. I guess I might as well get used to it though, since we have that pesky old Constitution and all. 0 -

The American flag transcends politics or current events. It is not about who's in office or the latest vote in Washington. It is the symbol of the ideals that formed this nation and the people who have fought and fight today, to allow me the freedon to speak out and live the life I enjoy.
I have no problem with people making a patriotic gesture by displaying the flag on their car, boat, motorcycle, snowmobile, what ever, as long as it is in good condition and treated with respect. I DO object to the image of the flag being made into clothing, upholstery, beach balls, etc. That is disrespectful. It's their right, but I still don't have to like it.
I have proudly display the Stars & Stripes on my home and keep it lighted at night, and replace it when it fades or becomes otherwise worn. It's a small price for a small tribute.0 -

When I fly the flag from my truck every mem. day,vet. day '4th of july etc,Its not to "make a specticle of it" ,but to remind people what that day is about.Its not about the day off from work,Its not about the three day week end,Its not about the bbq your going to have.Its about men and women that died so you CAN do those things. FYI my 75 year old mother sews the trailing edge of ALL my flags to reduce the tatered edges .when the edges do become tattered, I then give the flag to my scout master buddy for proper disposal.I hope I have made my point clear,And I mean no disrespect.0 -
YOU DONT UNDERSTAND i love this country and the american flag but what i am trying to say is if you think you can do anything with the flag then you have no respect for it if you have no respect for yourself then you have nothing for anything

jwb267 and 46270, I think both of you are on the same side. I think jwb267 is a little more picky than some of us. I can understand that because I used to be the same way. I still get fired up when I see somebody intentionally disrespecting the U. S. Flag, but I try to keep it down because one of the things the flag stands for is the right to disrespect anybody and anything they want to, including the very country and people who maintain that right for them. 0 -

I have been in the truck with 46270 when he has pulled into
chik-fil-a, to let them know that their flag was damaged.
He was driving to the doctor, he pulled over to a little league ball park to take the flag down, it was torn to shredds. He pulled into a vol fire dept, he pulled old glory down, folded her, then let them a note to let them know he took the flag down and why.

I fly a flag on my pickup. When it gets tattered, I replace it. If someone doesn't like it, they can come and TRY to take it off! 0 -

i would like to add one more thing, and that will be my last comment on this post. AT LEAST 58 OUT OF 600 PEOPLE CARE IN THEIR OWN FASHION 0 -
i can see how this could be upsetting but, most of the flags that i see on cars are made for them and i would say that as long as it is taken down when it is worn i dont have a problem with it. i like to display my patriotism and support for the troops, however i must say that i dont have one on my car.
