misdirection works great, saying something as stupid as "nice belt buckle" can shift the confrontation in your favore.

that reminds me of a poem.

    A little bird
    with a yellow bill
    landed on my window sill
I coaxed him closer with a crust of bread
and slammed the window on his f'en head

    If I can't have a "firearm" --

I'll buy one of those fully automatic compressed air powered bb guns, they'll cut something in half!

Everything I learned about non-firearm weapons, I learned from Steven Seagal.

That's why I carry a Jamaican's disembodied head (natty dreads still intact) attached to a heavy length of chain.

Of course, everything I learned about Class A felonies regarding the mutilation and desecration of a corpse I learned from California Department of Justice when one of those nosy cops asked, "Son, what is that you've got hanging off of your rear view mirror?"

Seriously - Perfect Daughter Deanna started training with chucks last week.

From the welts and bruises on her head, I'd say they were pretty serious weapons.

Guess I'll have to start carrying a pistol in my belt around home.

    Doug,

Nunchuks are pretty bad news if you know how to use them properly.

    Good point: no ammo needed.

    Bad point: limited range.

    Tell her to use both![8D]

Why do you need a weapon? According to the Democrats, you should welcome the home invader: feed them, clothe them, pay them, educate their children, provide free transportation and medical care. Ask them to call any other home invaders they know and let them live in your house rent-free. If that doesn't work, just run away. That's the "American Way", ya know. Teddy said so and he has experience in these things.[:(!]

Spider - For that extra Democrat touch, if they're Muslim, let them
wash their feet in your sink.

I have a truely portable weapon that you can keep with you at all times - it keeps the press of people away from you, it is very light to carry, and you can use it in an instant - it works on dogs too, on nearly any living creature, as a matter of fact: Kimchee Breath!

Just eat a good helping of Kimchee just before going out for the day, and between your breath and your other "exhalations", you will be touch-free all day long!

As a kid, I was fascinated with self-defense weaponry of all kinds esp. sling shots and knives (throwing and daggers, even made some) ... until I combined the two. I came up with what I call a flying pick. It's basically a small arrow 6-8" and propelled by a sling shot - and used it fishing and hunting small games (not in the US) as well as self-defense.

I have a mag bat in the truck at all times-- crossbow for the quiet shots in the dark.
Before I was allowed to have any type of gun, I manufactured every kind of spear/knife /throwing stars/ sling shots/throwing axes/4140 tapered 12" ice pick sharpend to a tapered point and heat treated, nasty weapon.

The moral of the story is: To get a little head you've got to give a little bread.....

    Modified powder-fireextinguisher loaded with a strong itching-powder - pressurised with CS-gas.

He'd stratch himself to death having no sight to escape.

once killed a coon with my boots kicked it damn near 4ft in the air and then kicked it again.

Ultimate non-firearm weapons we had when dealing with those buggers was a four tine pitchfork, lead pipe, rocks, and a blue healer named black eyed jack or BJ for short.

O I for got the post hole driver that was always good for somthing other than pounding posts.[;)]

I keep a life size poster of Rosie O by the front door and a gas filled weed eater by the back door. The extension cord gets in the way on an electric weed eater...........Maybe I'll design a 1000mph leah blower for home protection..........

Just a regular 5bc extinguisher is great for crowd control, then you can use the empty container as a blodgeon.

Ye Ol Chamber Pot.... First the contents (less than lethal, biological warefar) and if that doesn't stop them, the pot itself acts as an instrument of blunt trauma (lethal force)....

I'm a fan of the 5 foot club with nails embedded in the end of it. A machete is nice. A flaming bottle filled with gasoline works if it isn't indoors.

Ya just gotta admire a guy that slams a window on a small bird.

I've got a 3 pronged frog gig on a 4ft hickory handle. Works great
for dispatching snakes, and suspect it'd make an excellent close
quarters weapon. Depending on the situation, your vehicle may be
    your best defense.

...A Garden Weasel [:0] [:0]...Is the "spike" length legal?? Is the handle length legal?...being in CA you better make sure.

...I'm still checking the features on the newest Weed Popper myself, while looking for a pre-ban in mint condition...[^]

Trained some with the chucks as a kid, with a highly trained black
belt friend. Had an ex-roomate pull a set on me once, but after I
snatched em from his hand and did a small routine/exercise..he left
rapidly, and didn't even ask for his chucks back.[:)]
