The reason it didn't spray is because its not a real skunk.

Real skunks have only one stripe down thier back. Thats one of those dang cats that look like a skunk that people raise as pets.

I know because i have a friend that used to raise a whole ton of those dang critters and sell them. At one time he was getting a 100 bucks a head for them[:0] Supposedly they make realy good pets, But i always hated them.

    their tuff buggers aren't they?

i shot one with a 12 gauge it flew about ten feet in the air, i thought i would give it awhile, i went back out, and it was gone, i followed it trail in the dew for about 30 yards, shot 7 times with a .22 it was still trucking, i aimed for a head shot, and it went down then, they are some chicken killers too

Yes, they deffenitly like thier chickens.

At one time i was loosing a couple of chickens each night and i thought it was coons so i set some traps.

I ended up catching 30+ skunks through that year[:0]

Every one of them sprayed upon thier death[xx(]

Just a suggestion in keeping with the season of...stealing. Hows 'bout wrapping it up all nice and cheery and put it next to your mailbox like it's just been delivered to your house. No doubt, some thievin' idjit will come along and help theyselves to a de-lightful surprise. [;)][:p][:0]

By the way, boys...While we were out there, Dawnie showed me where she was standing and where the coyote was when she shot it. I measured it off. It was 33 yards. Not bad.

I waited until the skunk had plenty of time to empty its scent sac, and picked it up and tossed in on a brush pile to be burned. Dawnie shot this picture. It was a pretty big skunk, and weighed as much as a large house cat.

Just goes to show what can come snarling out
of a central Texas pastue. When will the dangers end ?
    Nothin a shotgun and 38 can't handle.
Then you get to get dress up like a drunkin dentist.

Why what? Why shoot a skunk? Maybe you didn't read my post or consider the facts.

Skunks are the #1 carrier of rabies in Texas.

Skunks are nocturnal by nature. This one was out in broad daylight, 4:15 pm, slightly un-skunk-like behavior.

All other skunks I have encountered, retreated, and they will if they have an exit. If cornered, they will spray. When this one saw us, it didn't try to move away, and it didn't try to spray. What it did was charge us. Again, very un-skunk-like behavior.

When I find a mammal that can carry rabies acting out of character, I kill it.

Racoons are the #2 carrier of rabies in Texas. Our Animal Control people in Greenville sometimes trap nuisance skunks and racoons, and even coyotes, but because of the risk of rabies, none are relocated. They all die.

Bats are the #3 carrier of rabies in Texas. We don't encounter bats often, but if a bat is on the ground, and still alive, it dies.

Sorry, but I have dogs and cats that I take care of, and spend a good bit of money doing so, and I will not suffer a possible rabies carrier to exist near my animals.

Because I have on disposable rubber gloves???

If I went to the dentist, and he came in the room dressed as I am in that picture, I think I would suddenly remember a conflicting engagement.
