anyone been following this ? GEEEEZ. of all the things in the world she can cry over she chooses this ? i say its a publicity stunt.

It might be a publicity stunt, but the "mutts and moms" organization screwed up this deal! The dog was in a good home with people who loved it, and they had the COPS come and get it? Explain that! The mutt we adopted a few weeks ago had the same stipulation in the contract. I can't give her to anyone else, but the animal shelter will glady take her back, and if no one else adopts her, will be glad to put her down. Explain that one too! 0 -

Saw "her" on the news today sniveling about this.
She adopted a dog from a shelter or similar service. She signed paperwork for the transaction. She then gave the dog to some friends with kids.
It seems the paperwork "she signed" has a clause that she could NOT give the dog to anyone, but must keep it. The shelter people then took the dog back from the family as it was a breech of the contract.
Now Ellen Degenerate is crying big PUPPY DOG tears that the dog was taken back. She blames herself, as she should, but made a silly spectacle of herself on her show.0 -

I think it sounds more like a vendictive way to make the pet rescue people pay for what they did to her. If she cries and makes a big-ta-do out of it.....there is certainly going to be some kind of uproar by her fans. Poor doggie social workers.....gonna have a bad day ahead for certain. 0 -

Sounds like a publicity stunt to me.
Why doesn't the family that she gave the dog to go adopt it? Even if the family doesn't have the funds for whatever fee's involved, I'm sure Ellen could cover it.
How did the "mutts and moms" find out where the animal was?
It seems that most celiberties take on a cause, maybe this one is hers.

How do you know it was a good home? Maybe that home has already had two dogs run off, and get hit by cars in the past 5 years!
I work in dog rescue. Maybe the dog growled at children previously so the rescue group was insisting that the dog go to a home with no children. Maybe the dog killed a cat, so the organization wanted to make sure that the dog was never placed in a home with cats.
Bottom line is, Ellen adopted a puppy, and when things got tough she shirked her responsibility. Dog rescues do not want dogs back!!! We want to see them go to a home, and stay until they die. It's not a powertrip, or anything of the sort. Ellen gave the dog away because she was embarrassed to give it back. Rescue Contracts are not a 100 page documents written in 6pt font. They are one page, and about 5 paragraphs.
It's her fault.
She's an idiot.

Ellen probably told them! The animal shelter here has called once a week to check on Sally! I am getting kinda tired of it, to be honest with you. "Have you taken her for shots yet? Have you made the appt. to have her spayed yet? How is she interacting with the family? How is her house breaking? Can I have your vets number so I can call and confirm the next round of puppy shots have been given to her?" To tell you the truth, if I had known these people would be this much of a problem, I would NOT have adopted a dog from them! I don't care for Ellen, but she adopted a dog, realized it wasn't going to work out, and found a home for it. Nothing wrong with that in my book. If it comes right down to it, "mutts and moms" is probably upset that they didn't get another adoption fee out of the deal! 0 -

Maybe they were worried about the kids, and not the animal. Remember the rules are made so that the dogs, and their progeny never make it back into the system.

The "supposed" article mentioned by River Rat states the dogs were not to be adopted by families with kids under 14, for the protection of the dog...
The girls in the family were 11 and 12.....Hardly "little" girls who would pull their tails and ears...

Fishermanben...I had lots more respect for you before you posted the above blather! Yes, our dog has been spayed. I agreed to do so when I signed the papers. I take real exception to what you said: "you taking your time to have your pet spayed, and vetted properly." How the hell can you assume that I am "taking my time" to do those things. We love our animals. They are part of the family. What bugs the snot out of me is the calls we have been getting "just making sure." I gave those folks $99 for the dog. I am not going to throw away 100 bucks and not take care of her! Maybe, just to assure gun owners are responsible, the govt. needs to set up a committee to call each and every gun owner at least once a week to assure the guns are away from kids and out of their reach. [xx(] What your post reveals is an attitude that says "I know better than you about this, so even though I'm going to let you adopt a dog, since i work for the shelter, it is obvious that I care more about dogs than you do." My dad was a vet, and I have had people contact me about these dog "adoption" programs. Total psychos at these places who care more about their power trip than the dog. "We want to make sure the dog goes to a good home". BS. There are plenty of good homes out there that don't meet their standards.
Anyone can say "well, they don't cry over soldiers, blah blah blah", but that's not the issue. You could spend your whole day crying over all the horrible crap that happens to everyone. These dog people are nuts.0 -

Well then what's the problem? Why not just give them your vet's number, and tell them to quit calling you? That would make me mad too. All of the dogs we rescue are fixed, and vetted before they go to their home, so we really never have that kind of problem.

Maybe you're the best dog owner ever! How are they to know that? If all dog owners were good owners, we wouldn't need pounds. Follow up is necessary to prevent them, and their progeny from bouncing back. I rescue breed specific, and I know of one breeder in Southern Illinois, and we literally(no pun intended) rescue half of his litter every spring from diffent pounds in southern illinois. He sells them to people, doesn't tell them that they're buying spider monkies on crack, and one by one over a three month period we rescue one, two, three...four. I volunteer for a breed specific rescue. If you think rescuers are crazy, go visit a puppy mill. It's cool how they stack them three crates high, and let them pee and poop all over the inbred dogs below them, and then charge unsuspecting buyers $1000 for their purebred pieces of crap.

fishermanben...sorry. You did hit a nerve with me head on! Guess I did with you too! These folks here are crazy. Our dogs shots were updated the week we got her, when I took her in to my vet on my dime for a general health check-up. I have other dogs and didn't want the pup to pass anything on to them. But then the calls started! I have given them my vets number (had to when I adopted her, and gave it to them when they called), they have checked with my vet on her shots and on her being spayed. Now they are calling just to "check on her." Enough! Oh well. NOthing in the contract about them calling, so if it goes on, guess we will have words!

Couldn't have said it better myself, counsellor. Actually, I did say the very same words to my wife as we were watching the show. Greta was clearly against the guy, but she's a lawyer and she knows that a contract is a contract.
