Do you have any "keepsake" guns?

I have my Dad's (died in 1966 at the young age of 50)
25 cal-Duo that he brought back from Germany after WWII.

I have a Hi-Standard Double-Nine "Posse" (22 cal.) and a
Colt Frontier Scout '62 w/mag cyl. that I purchased "new"
in the early 60's (never left my possession).


What's your "keepsake" guns that you'll never sell?

    My dad passed away April 26, 2006 and I have his Remington 1100, Remington 870, Hawkins muzzle loader, Speed Six revolver a Remington Targetmaster 22. I also have Mom's Remington Fieldmaster 22. Mom liked to squirrel hunt with Dad, but his 22 was a little heavy for her so he bought her this Fieldmaster. What is unique about is that it is aluminum with a steel insert in the barrel. Absolutely light as a feather. These will never leave my hands except for the boys (or I will leave to a brother if I do not think the boys will be sentimental toward the guns). My sister has Dad's deer rifle (she asked Dad for it before he passed) and my brothers have some others.

    I still have the first gun I ever owned. Not worth much to anyone but me.

    I inherited my dad's P38 that he picked up in Germany during WWII. That gun will be passed on through the family.

    I have my Grandad's first model S&W hand ejector that was produced in 1903. Also a bringback bubbazized Mauser 98 from my uncle.

    All of my guns are to be handed down to my daughter. So I suppose to her, they'll be "keepsake guns" My own father still shoots his model 12 Remington 22, his sporterized model 1895 Winchester in 30-40 Krag and, on rare occasions, my Great-Granddad's old Ithaca Side-by-side gets a workout. I've discussed the guns with my brothers and the consensus is that, since I'm the shooter of the family, those guns will go to me. But with Pop still alive and all, I'm in no big hurry.

    I have a colt junior .25 that a dear friends wife gave me after he died that I will never sell.

    Seems I'm not alone here! I have a number of "keepsake" weapons.
    Dad's 1897 Winchester & his Arisaka T38 carbine from his time in WWII, my Grandfather's Stevens single shot 410, my Great Grandfathers Henry-Skinner 12ga. I remember being around them all when I was growing up, and my first gun for hunting season was Dad's 1897

    grandfathers side by side 12 ga. Lefever arms shotgun. 9 other various guns that were my dads. My sister got the other half of dads collection. Would NEVER part with any of them! they will be passed down to my son and daughter.

    I have my dad's Walther .32 PP that came from the factory. I also still have the first actually the only .22 he ever bought me, a J.C. Higgins rifle made by Highpoint, 1960 I think.

    My nephew got the one I learned to shoot on, but I got one right here on GunBroker to replace it. It is going to my daughter. I think she'll have a lot of fun with it. God know I did.

    I have a Civil War piece that was taken off the Gettysburg Battle field by my wife's great, great, great, grand father. It has been a while since I took it out of its shadow box and looked at it, but I believe it is an A. Hastings 58 caliber single shot pistol that is dated 1850. It appears to have been converted from flintlock to percussion.

    The Ruger Single Six I've had since my 7th birthday (1987).

    I won't get rid of any of the others I have either.

    The other keepsakes will be the ones I get from my dad when he's too old to shoot.

    ..Dad's Remington 550, Stevens Marksman and LC Smith SxS field grade.

    ..My friend's dad's Stevens Visible Loader .22 and a store brand 10 ga. SxS hammer gun. I can't really figure out why my buddy gave them to me, except that he knew I'd appreciate them, and he's not the sentimental type.

    My Dad is holding a .56 Spencer carbine for my Son. He has owned it for 50+ years and wants to pass it on to my oldest Son when the time is right. That Son has a 721 Remington that my Dad bought new and gave to me and I gave to my Son. It's in for rework as we speak. Always been hunted with and enjoyed. I have lot's of guns, but no real keepsakes. Maybe some of them will be to my boys someday.[:)]

    My grandfathers Ithaca 12 gauge double. my dad and I traded guns back and forth so much we kinda lostrack but 2 stand out the first 22 I ever shot, a stevens favorite. Also a High Standard target pistol with 2 interchangable barrels. He gave me this one for putting a Ruger 22 auto in my name for him

    My Grandfather's (mother's side)Winchester m70 in 30-06. I'm getting the picture of him with 2 deer hanging and 2 turkey and him holding the rifle. Funny thing is NO cammo how he do that? The picture was taken in 1952 as it was told to me.
