Got a sick kitty....UPDATE
Just took our oldest cat to the vet. He's been trying to vomit for two days but can't get anything up. Vet did an evaluation and took some X-rays and said that the cat's intestines have wrapped over themselves and caused a blockage. Said that there was a possibility that it could be cancer, but he doubted it. Anyway, they were going to do surgery this afternoon, but decided that the cat was somewhat dehydrated so they postponed the surgery until tomorrow. This is kinda depressing....we've had this cat all of his life. He's 13 years old. He's part of the family. Gonna be a long couple of days without him here.

Sorry to hear it. gut torsions are tough on animals (it is called colic in horses), and it is painful. sounds like your guy will be better. Be glad it is fixable and he has not been eating one of the recalled foods.
We would be lost without ours too.0 -
Hope the little critter comes around OK.

Hoping for a full recovery. Good luck. 0 -
Good luck with the surgery. We just lost one of our cats that we've had 13 years. Got him and his sister right after we got married (My wife and me, not the cats). My wife had me take him to a pet crematorium and for $75 he is now in an urn in our curio cabinet. (If any of you are going to reply with a smarta$$ comment I've probably already heard it from my coleagues, friends, neighbors, ect) 0 -

The thread title suggests your woman has an STD. 0 -
And your reply, MrZulu is a clear indication of a incurable lack of compassion, manners and common sense. Folks here can have a long memory when it comes to such nonsense as yours. Why don't you delete your post and crawl back under your rock? 0 -
Hope your little guy gets better Slider.
Sammy's 15 goin' on 16 and I get in a twist every time he starts to yuk up a hairball.0 -
Sorry Slider. Hope the best for your cat. Have two labs, know what you mean about part of the family. 0 -
I hope your furry family member recovers quickly .... and the vet bill doesn't hurt too much. 0 -
Not that I like that anti-usa, anti-war parallel hinting at vietnam; but can you do what they did to m*a*s*h's colonel potters horse and put warm water up its arse to cure it? Or was that just a myth on the show? 0 -
Thirteen ain't so old for a cat.
I hope his surgery corrects the problem, I hope it's not cancer, and I hope he recovers quickly so that he can give you another five to ten years of joy.
Anyway, best from here.0 -
Keep us posted on how your kitty is doing....Will be sending good thoughts today....give kitty a hug and kiss for us... 0 -

No smarta$$ comments here! Pets really do become like family. I think its kinda neat you remember your pet in that way. We have a 14 year old Sheltie that has been the best dog a family could ever own. He has arthritis really bad, and doesn't get around so well anymore. We all know his time is short, and I REALLY dread that day, not so much for me, but for the kids. I have already been told that he is getting 'special treatment' when he goes.0 -

Under normal circumstances I'd start throwing insults back at you, but I'm not going to lower myself to your level.0 -
Hate to disappoint you, but, I'm an old guy who doesn't give a rat's rear end about what anybody can or can't say about me on an internet board. What I wrote is true. Why not apologize to all of the folks here who care about their pets and then leave the thread alone? 0 -
Well, I just got off the phone with the vet. Surgery went well. Turns out, the cat was impacted...pretty much severely consipated!! He said that part of the intestines had some poor circulation, but they straightened that out and got some good circulation!! They put in a feeding tube (for a few days). Vet said that it looks like it will be a good outcome. Worst part is that they said I couldn't visit the cat today since they want to keep him calm due to the feeding tube. Oh well...at least we got some good news!!! Thanks for all the kind words, guys & gals!!! It means alot. By the way, Zulu 7...I didn't take any offense to your earlier post. You didn't direct it at me or my cat. In fact, I guess the subject DID sound a little weird. Anyway..just wanted to update everyone. I'll post more info as it comes along. 0 -
Congrat's on the successful surgery.[:D] 0 -
He Dog said...."(it is called colic in horses),"....
If I remember correctly it is also similar problem with bloodhounds. I think for the hounds it is called bloat. Immediate medical attention is needed to save the animal.
Hope kitty is doing well.0 -
Good to hear Slider. I have an 11 year old cat that I'm very fond of, so I can imagine how you feel. 0 -
Thanks for the update.
Always like to hear good news. [:D]0 -

Glad you got some good news Slider! Your bud will probably never look back, but both of you will likely need more fiber in your diets in your golden years.[:p] 0 -
Wonderful news!

That's great, and pretty magnanimous toward Zulu.

I hate to admit it, but I had to look up the definition to MAGNANIMOUS!!!! 0 -
Glad your cat is doin well. I know how hard it is. I took my 12 yr old dog to ER last Sat. he had surgery and is not doin so well. I hand feed him a little and try every chance I get but he only takes a bite or two then turns the other way.. I have meds to give him at. 6am. 8am. 2pm. 8pm and 10pm. 3 different drugs. He hardly gets up now but I am hopeful still, although I know his time is comin. I've had him longer than the wife. I can't give up on him now. [V] 0 -
Glad to hear kitty's pulling through it. 0
