Report of an ANTI GUN BUSINESS
Hello All.. This is just a note to anyone who shop's or has an H.G. Hill grocery store in there area. These folks are Anti-gun. My 17 y.o. daughter and I were attempting to do our typical shopping at the local Hills grocery store when approached by there Rent a cop and the store manager. The wannabe police officer attempted to search me and proceeded to tell me that I was not welcome in the store with my firearm. The firearm ( H&K Compact nine ) was completely concealed and not easily visible , but rent a cop attempted to feel me over for my pistol. I stepped away and warned him not to place his hands on me, then advised him that if he wanted to search me he had better get a real cop or a search warrant. He then accused me of being a shoplifter. Funny thing was I had just walked about 25 feet into the store and had just grabbed a shopping cart. What caused him to gain my attention was beyond me. This WAS and I say WAS my neighborhood grocery store. After a few words no curse words )I left the store with Rent a cop in tow, still wanting to disarm me. Once outside and attempting to leave, rent a cop blocked my path as if he was going to attempt an arrest. Again I warned him not to attempt to place his hands on me or I would be forced to defend my self. Fortunately he must have felt intimidated and stepped aside. Just a note that ther are some real anti gun idiots out there. The guy didn't even ask if I had a carry permit.. So how about lets show him how much business he can miss from people who like guns..Boycott H.G. Hill's Grocery's..

I wouldnt' say your not so bright either, but I'ved been todl by the people in sporting goodas people at 5 different walmarts that only the ones who don't slle 300 guns a year are looseing there gun sales, but they will stil sel ammo.quote:Originally posted by p3skyking

You're not so bright eiter. They are stopping the sales at only the stores that don't do a certain percentage. I have a buddy that works in Walmarts sporting goods. He should know.0 -
As to the signs and lettering etc, I doubt they have to have a sign up, or there is any strict requirement on placement and font.
It is private property and they can allow whoever they want in it. If they choose not to allow people with firearms in their store, it is their loss of business. However, there may be enough anti-gun shoppers, that they would loose more business by allowing armed shoppers inside.
Some people just wont shop there if they know there is a guy coming in with a gun often.
As to the search, well you did the right thing. I would have asked him what he was searching for, and if he said firearms, respond with a comment about having a concealed carry permit that you are actively using.
It should really have been a civil, simple: "do you have a firearm"- "store policy does not allow firearms, you have to leave"
-maybe- followed by a "you can come back after you leave your firearm in your vehicle".0 -

If he touched bells, it would be a battery. an assault occurs when someone THREATENS to touch you. a battery is when someone DOES touch you in an unwelcome way.
also, since this guy was private security, the constitutional prohibitions against unreasonable searches and seizures don't apply to him, they only apply to govt. actors/agents.

You statement that your firearm was, "...completely concealed and not easily visible", is contradictory.
Their attitudes aside, if your firearm had been effectively concealed none of this would've happened.
I sure am glad I live in a carry state and not a concealed carry state, was the biggest relief when I got mine I didn't have to worry about it showing accidentally.
Don't get me wrong I carry concealed, I just like the fact that I don't have to, I could strap on my tactical thigh holster any day of the week and walk around town with my 9mm and be fully legal as long as I'm carrying my license and a form of picture id.
I don't remember the exact wording but we have a state law on the signs for if you don't want people carrying in your store letters have to be so big certain colors so high off the ground etc etc etc. The funnest thing about it is, you can't get in any trouble for walking in there carrying anyhow, all they can do is ask you to leave if you don't leave they can call the cops then they will ask you to leave and probably give you a trespassing citation which is like a parking ticket costs 5 minutes and 20 bucks to clear up.
Also I don't know about your state but I was an unarmed security guard for a while We had no police abilities at all, you CAN NOT restrain someone at all by blocking your path he was doing that if he touched you that's even worse depending on your state laws I would say you had a pretty good case, of course talk to a lawyer first.
We were told we couldn't even tell someone to stop or stay, basically all we could do is ask them to please leave the property and or call the cops we could not physically or verbally restrain them in any way shape or form unless we wanted to go to jail of course.
I also hate most of those security guards if one pulled that poop on me I would definitely sue his ass, A lot of those sweeties just think they can get away with it and that there better than everyone else because there wearing a uniform/have a tin star on.
edit: Also what the hell was he thinking, if he believed you were carrying its pretty stupid of him to try and search you whats he going to do if he did feel a gun? Like I said before all they should have done is asked you to leave anything beyond that was probably against the law depending on your state/local laws, and I would seriously consider speaking to a lawyer about it before it happens to someone else and it doesn't go over as safety as it did with you.
I mean what if he would have found your weapon and attempted to disarm you and accidentally discharged your weapon.
It just doesn't sound like a good situation at all.0
