Report of an ANTI GUN BUSINESS
Hello All.. This is just a note to anyone who shop's or has an H.G. Hill grocery store in there area. These folks are Anti-gun. My 17 y.o. daughter and I were attempting to do our typical shopping at the local Hills grocery store when approached by there Rent a cop and the store manager. The wannabe police officer attempted to search me and proceeded to tell me that I was not welcome in the store with my firearm. The firearm ( H&K Compact nine ) was completely concealed and not easily visible , but rent a cop attempted to feel me over for my pistol. I stepped away and warned him not to place his hands on me, then advised him that if he wanted to search me he had better get a real cop or a search warrant. He then accused me of being a shoplifter. Funny thing was I had just walked about 25 feet into the store and had just grabbed a shopping cart. What caused him to gain my attention was beyond me. This WAS and I say WAS my neighborhood grocery store. After a few words no curse words )I left the store with Rent a cop in tow, still wanting to disarm me. Once outside and attempting to leave, rent a cop blocked my path as if he was going to attempt an arrest. Again I warned him not to attempt to place his hands on me or I would be forced to defend my self. Fortunately he must have felt intimidated and stepped aside. Just a note that ther are some real anti gun idiots out there. The guy didn't even ask if I had a carry permit.. So how about lets show him how much business he can miss from people who like guns..Boycott H.G. Hill's Grocery's..

Even if they have one, it has to include specific wording and the statute number that allows them to ban CCW on their property, or it means nada.

write the president of the store, or try to contact someone hire up than store manager, cause if they accused you of stealing they have a big problem on there hands. i would talk to a lawyer. 0 -

Rent a cops don't have any right to search for concealed weapon.
Real police who we hope, have half a brain cell would be a little

Maybe they have concealed and silent metal detectors at the entrance? Were you fussing with the Jammy in the Car? Cause the security cameras in parking lots now have very good resolution.0 -
I cannot believe a grocery store in Tenessee can survive with that type of policy. I bet if you got a large group of people to dress as "tactical" as possible and go in there to shop for groceries.....it would be worthy of filming for internet watchers everywhere.
I mean...full out.... vests, the big plastic face shields, some type of radio device where they can check in with each other to say things like
"come in foxtrot....gravy has been moved to priority ALPHA....over"

I made these as stickers for stores that put up signs.
I stick it under there sign.

For the record, though.
I still don't base my buying decisions on something I read in an internet chat room posted by somebody I've never met. There are just too many variables.
But, in this case, I don't have to worry about it. I'm in Colorado.0 -
If the security guard put his hands on you, it can be looked upon as assault of your person - but not battery. No matter, probable cause is required for any search and even if he suspected you had a gun on your person, there was no hint of a crime about to happen. Sorry, but the security guard is not fit for that type of job IMHO. He's going to cause more trouble for the store and the chain than his gung ho attitude will ever be worth. To compound his bad judgement a bit further, he then accused you of shoplifting.
Do what you want, but you SHOULD sue him personally, the security service he works for AND the chain. It's not about money but it's all about their perception of guns, even in the hands of law-abiding citizens who are in full compliance with the state's laws.

Sorry, but the bottom line is that all of this was a result of your own actions.
You statement that your firearm was, "...completely concealed and not easily visible", is contradictory.
Their attitudes aside, if your firearm had been effectively concealed none of this would've happened.0 -

I would say my firearm was completely concealed. It was in a work bag alomg with my bank deposits and my laptop. I usually dont wear it in the open in grocery stores or other shops of question. The rent a cop and owner of the business attempted a search of my bag. I voluteered to opened it and showed them I was not trying to hide merchaandise or steal anything. Thats when they decidied I was not welcome. No signs posted in or outside of the Madison H.G. Hills .. 0 -

actually in Tn if its not posted it doesnt matter if its concealed or if your carrying it in a tactical drop thigh holster they cant do squat its the law..and renta cops are the ones that werent smart enough to be the real thing 0 -

None of you guys know. The Wal-Mart here had high gun sales and removed them but they still sell ammo.0 -

Uh, something's not ringing right here.
Why did you say in your opening post that he tried to pat you down? For what reason?
If your gun was in your bag, what was his motivation to do so.
Perhaps I'm missing a salient point here.
