.40 VS 9mm
Im just looking to compare ammo prices, any one have any idea on which two brands are comparable. I saw a case of 9mm CCI gold dot fo 299.95 for the 9mm and then i saw a case of Sellier Bellot .40 for 259.99. are they comparable?

i see its about 50 bucks cheaper compared FMJ to FMJ. Im thinking Glock 23 or Beretta 96D, But im thinking capacity with the Glock 17 or 19. Any ideas? And i dont want to hear glocks are ugly, im talking about which is the better gun. I shoot at the range alot, but one of these guns may very well turn into a carry gun. 0 -

I have a 92D and a G23. I would take the G23 anyday. Try punching paper with the longer tigger pull of a 92D or a 96D and you'll see why. Not saying they are bad guns. DAO is for everybody.0 -

I like the 9mm for more practice, glocks can handle the +P+ ammo which is much hotter like 1350 fps, 115 gr

i think im going to go with a 9mm. I figure hot lead to the chest is hot lead to the chest. Plus if an AWB ever come back up i can sell the hi cap 9mm mags for a nice chunk of change. now im onto what 9mm? ohh the pain! I cant surf the auction side at work but i can hit the forums. 0 -

nope they both are great, .4" longer bbl and longer grip with 2 more rounds on the 17
depending on what you have, I would go with the 17, although both are about the same in accuracy the 17 gives you a little faster recovery and longer sight radius, at a little added bulk
really the 34 and 17ls are the last handgun I would trade0 -

IMO 9's are for backup only, and the recoil sensitve rec. shooter0 -
If you aren't sure, buy both the G19 and the G23. I did and
I love them both and shoot them better than anything I've owned.

For just paper punching, definitely 9mm. Ammo is cheaper ($14/100-9mm, $20/100-.40). Also, if you're going to keep it around for self defense, 9mm is nothing to sneeze at, if you stoke with with a good JHP round (I'm partial to the 124-125-127 grn +P & +P+ loads).
If you decide to get a Glock in 9mm, especially for paper punching, I highly recommend the Glock 34. It's tons of fun. My next choice would be the -17. I'd only look at a -19 if you were going to carry it concealed.
Also, I've never climbed aboard the .40 bandwagon...0 -
i have a glock 34 with 19,000+ rounds most being rapid fire, and probably 100,00 dry fires, NOT 1 MALFUNCTION, it's the gun i made master with
i have a Beretta 92 with less than 1,000 rounds and at least 25 malfunctions from ftf to fte, and even rounds turning upside down in the magazine, guess which one is next to my bed?

they should make a 9mm in a reeally reeally small gun. with the wimpy recoil a 9 has, I think that would make one worth having. like, .25 ACP size. 0 -
decisions been made, going with a glock 17. Now i just have to wait for my paycheck. im hoping i can find one for around 350, ive seen them locally for about 360 all the way up to 450. 0 -

The 9mm has more recoil than the .223 Does that make the .223 wimpy? I guess from your point of view, the more recoil the better the gun. To each his own.0
