Do you own or desire a semi-auto mil type rifle

Given the amount of space consumed on this forum with the "Zumbo issue" over the past few days, a question comes to my mind. Without impling approval or disapproval of the use or desire to use a military-type semi automatic rifle for any peaceful pursuit (hunting, target shooting, plinking, home defense, etc), my question is do you currently own one or more of these? If not, do you desire to own one?

While I am not sure of the exact definition of an "assualt rifle" (as the term was used by Zumbo and has been used by many in this forum), I am presuming that the term is being applied to the above described civilian weapons. If I am incorrect, I am sure that I will be educated quickly by this group. [:)][:)]

umm... you can tell by the size of the baseboard, these are all little toy GI Joe rifles. [;)]

I dont own any of those " bad assult rifles". But if I did it would be my SAR-1, milled receiver with Tapco folder. Slant break, Dura Coated, four forties rounders, two thirties, a twenty and the ten round that it came with. And about 1000 rounds of Wolf in my safe.

The only reason I don't currently own one is purely financial... Then again it may also be my own ignorance... I suspect that such awesome pieces (I am talking about good AR-15 and similar models not surplus AK's & SKS's) require large amounts of money to purchase.

I would like to purchase one for Coyote hunting!

Very interesting responses to my question. A quick tally of the 60+ resposes shows four (if I counted correctly) persons who either do not or do not care to own a rifle of this type. Add me, that is five --- 92% otherwise. Even discounting this result for the person who has no interest in this type of firearm being less likely to respond to the question, I am overwhelmed by the percentage of you to whom these firearms appeal.

I expected a majority positive response, even significantly more than a majority positive response, but I did not expect this. I doubt that Jim Zumbo understood this either.

Actually, your optics will cost you more than a decent, slightly used AR-15 clone at a gun show. I've seen some decent Bushmasters go for $450 out the door at my local gun show. The pawn shops have the same, but usually $50--$100 more.
I have one I call "Ma Bell'" `cause it can reach out and touch someone. 28" fluted stainless BBL from DPMS, built on a Stag Arms lower with a two-stage trigger. I've got about $600 in the rifle, but the Burris 6-24X44 Signature Select scope cost nearly as much, but the optics are worth it if you are doing some long shooting.
