since i will be the big 40 in two years I want to get one more tatoo..
I want to get a dragonfly on my lower back. I already have one on my right thigh.
Nunn isnt to crazy about it,but I have really been thinking getting it done...

Do you want me to delete this before the chorus of condemnations start? From past experience I know that when the subject of tattoos comes up the vast majority of comments are extremely negative. Especially regarding women with tattoos.

Go for it Dawnie, if that's what you want to do. My wife has gotten a couple. One on her calf and the other on her upper arm near her shoulder. I think some tats are neat looking, but I have never got one myself. Any more, I think it's a girl thing as there are alot of girls out there with tats, just like piercings. 0 -

Before Nunn see this and deletes it, I will add my two cents. I have a tattoo on my foot. I don't like it anymore and want it gone. I find it a distraction of who I am and how I want myself to be represented. My reasons for getting it were not the best. However, that being said, IF, IF, IF, I ever had a GOOD reason for getting another one, it would be of a dragonfly. I love them. It is a good choice. You have to do what you feel comfortable with and your reasons for it. 0 -

When I was 16 I wanted to get a tattoo and couldn't find anything that I wanted permanantly inked on me.
So now it is almost 30 years down the road I am still looking so all I can say is if you found that one thing that you feel like you would like permanantly inked into you then by all means I would get it if I were you.0 -

Personally, I don't like ink on women.
That didn't stop my wife (who is your age) from getting 3.
She has a butterfly on her rear, a sunburst thingy around her naval and a heart w/roses on an ankle. The sunburst she had done at Miami Ink, the TV show place.[xx(]
She never asked for my "permission". It is her body...not mine.

Dawnie - I read/saw a blurb on TV about a new kind of Tat.
Normally, Tats fade and/or cost a pile of $$$ to remove if for
some reason you want it removed.
NEW IDEA!
Some artists have perfected a new technique that implants 'packets' of
ink - duplicating the tatooer's craft - BUT - the ink is UV sensitive and
once the packets are broken with a non-injurious Laser ... the ink dissolves
and goes away in a few days!
That sounds like the perfect compromise, eh?!

I got my first one at 27 and I have been in the sun and used the tanning bed and such and it hasnt faded..
It did get infected right after I got it because I had a reaction to the red dye in the rose,a few treatments of antibotic cream and it was better,,,and a butt chewing from my family dr.
But I think a dragonfly would be cool0 -
...Shoot Dawnie, David shouldn't care, heck he has that big 16" long cowgirl with a hat, short skirt and boots, no top, on his forearm...the one that was popular in the 40's; when he was young and in his early 30's.[:D][}:)]..then that one on the back of his neck, I wont get into describing that one though...[:D]

A few months ago my g/f got the climbing panther on her shoulder blade over my objection. I really thought she should have gotten a less common design and probably smaller.
Sometimes it still aggravates me to see it.

I don't see one thing against tattoos if you like them, I have two small ones. But just one thing that maybe most of us don't think of..That nice, clean, sharp tattoo we get now looks like a glob on an ink blotter when we're 68..I got mine when I was 18, and the tattooist was an absolute artist. They were perfect in every detail, and in three colors. Now what I have is a blue blotch on each arm. I don't mind. I ain't pretty ennyway, so it doesn't matter. But if you think your looks might still be important when you're a few decades older. you might want to reconsider.

I see no reason for you not to get one if you want it. I don't think tastefully done tatts are objectionable. What I don't like is for tatts to cover a person's entire arms, legs and or torso. I have three myself - bengal tiger on left bicep, white tiger on right bicep and double heart with my deceased wife's and my names. GO for it. 0 -
