As you all know, I'm looking at buying a 243. I found the rifle I want and could scope it with rings for the amount of money that I'm selling my wheels and tires for on fleabay(I've been exchanging emails with someone about them). Tori wants me to put the money away. Is it not good enough that we just filed our tax return and are getting a huge return? When do I get to play with my money?
Someone help my bargaining with her. She thinks that NO gun should cost more than $50, until she shoots it and falls in love with it.
Sorry, I was kind of venting and asking for help at the same time.

I guess whatever I was going to buy is now on hold. She pretty much crapped on the floor when I told her I was going to buy it.

Get the gun..................Neither you nor she should have to have "permission to buy stuff. You should always give her the courtesy of letting her know your plans but neither one of you should have the power to rule over each others lives. Thats where trouble and resentment starts.

Tell her yall can go shoot guns one day, this is really cheap, and if you dont get this one youll get another for 2x the money later. and youll help clean or something.

Im not married, but I just went through something similar with my longtime girlfriend. I was going to trade a gun for another gun and she was mad at me for it. Good luck. Tell me if you find a solution. Mrs. Plaid wasn't happy about me buying a lowly MAK last summer. Had to argee to her getting the Air Hockey table. She got the table this Christmas and the Macrowave over the stove for her birthday, and the living room is now painted. Come to thing of it, all I got for my birthday was a dang set of allen wrenches.
My point is it's about time working her up for the AR. It's not going to be an easy negotiation.

She got a new ring for Christmas, a new wood floor in the house(she's been dying for one for years), a new laundry room, nails done every 2-3weeks, I haven't bought anything since I went to the gun show last fall. I told her this will round out the collection.
Not saving for a house as we own one, no kids for a while, expressing the power of "Poon" I guess.
Oh well, this isn't the first, nor will it be the last time, she doesn't like me.0 -

One of the top reasons for divorce is fighting over money...how or how not to spend it. Establish rules now or expensive habits like guns will cause trouble later. 0 -
If you have a savings account put back with enough money in it to cover 3 months of your living expenses, go for it. If not, don't buy another dang thing until you get that much money put away. STORMY days will come, young'un, and you will NEED that emergency money. Trust me on that one! I learned from hard, personal experience. 0 -

My mother once threatened to divorce my father over $$$. He likes to give it away; she likes to save it (for what, I'm not sure). So he started lying about how much he was giving. When the balloon went up....there was hell to pay.
He still does what he wants with it but he's honest about it. She ain't happy, but she's willing to put up with his 'excesses' as long as he's honest about it. Makes sense to me.
I think if you're asking "when do I get to play with my money," then it's time to sit down and make an agreement about how much of your money you get to play with, and how much goes to savings. That's a PITA, but having to bicker over every toy you want is probably worse. On the other hand, if you've got $xxx per month that is recognized as your whatever-slush-fund then what you do with it is entirely your problem.0 -

Buy what you want,..providing that doesn't cause financial trouble, that is always a no-no. If you are selling an old set of wheels and tires,..then that is merely a trade and not a purchase IMHO.
I have been (for the most part[}:)]) placed on firearm probation for the last 5yrs. I can only buy if I sell something. I adhere to that strictly[;)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)] The wife doesn't always need to know if it will cause controversy. Bills are paid,..savings is increased,..so after that I get my toys.0
