Get the gun..................Neither you nor she should have to have "permission to buy stuff. You should always give her the courtesy of letting her know your plans but neither one of you should have the power to rule over each others lives. Thats where trouble and resentment starts.

Get the gun and encourage her to get something for herself,

Perfectly spoken runner, they couldda locked this one, right there.

Buy it and then take it to bed on the couch. At least one of you will be happy. [:D][:D][:D]

Exact same thing going on over here! So I bought her an emrald ring for $800 so now she cant gripe at me when my M-4 gets here. I well understand how frustrating the money issue is but we have to bite our lips...its just what we do.

There is a 61% chance that you will be divorced within 5 years even if you play her game. And women don't like wussies, that is a well known fact.. Be a manly man...Buy the rifle.

    Squirrel????????

No wonder you cant convince her ...its a SKUNK!!!!!![;)]

Seriously though...you might wanna make a list...(women love to see it in lists)

List all the stuff she has bought or you have given to her
List all the stuff you have had given or bought for yourself..
you were doing pretty good on here a while ago listing all the stuff about her nails, floor etc...

List the guns you have and the RESALE value...

Tell her you are making sure she is going to be taken care of if anything happens to you....

and by the way, any big purchase should be talked over, and decided on ....does she give anything towards the upkeep of the house, groceries? or does she blow everything on herself?...those are the things you want to keep in mind......

look at it this way, you can sell the gun anytime you want and get the money back. you're not hurting for money, so what's the difference.

I bet Locust Fork's hubby is going "geez! can we just buy some dinner plates for a change??"

As you all know, I'm looking at buying a 243. I found the rifle I want and could scope it with rings for the amount of money that I'm selling my wheels and tires for on fleabay(I've been exchanging emails with someone about them). Tori wants me to put the money away. Is it not good enough that we just filed our tax return and are getting a huge return? When do I get to play with my money?

Someone help my bargaining with her. She thinks that NO gun should cost more than $50, until she shoots it and falls in love with it.

Sorry, I was kind of venting and asking for help at the same time.

    Update:
I guess whatever I was going to buy is now on hold. She pretty much crapped on the floor when I told her I was going to buy it.

You need to sort that ***t out or you'll never make it. You need to be able to agree on when it's feasible to buy toys, or to make non-essential improvements to the house, or on how many nail-jobs are reasonable within a one-year period.

Otherwise, you're working hard towards a joint sense of injustice, and that leads to ruin.

My marriage failed for different reasons, but if it had not failed how it did, it would have failed on reasons similar to those which you are describing. If you don't buy the gun because you came to agree with her then that's one thing. If you don't buy the gun because she crapped on the floor.....work it out.

This is how I would do it. I would sell the wheels, buy the gun, and not said a word to her at all. When she discovers it, I would just tell her I've had it for along time. No problems. It always works for me, because by the time she finds out, the money is gone and there is no effect to her budget. Just remember that the Mrs. doesn't need to know everything. I'll bet she's got some secrets from you.

In moments like this, ask yourself this quetion...

    What would Zulu do?

No way I'd consider him a definitive source of logic and reason. With that said, he'd buy the gun

Laminate floors don't like crap too much, especially the wet stuff. Mr. Plaid will act the same way.

CUBS: Take it easy with the toys,we don't need another topic"Tell me about divorce". Save the money. Your both in a contest to spend.

After almost 22 years of marriage I have to say, that this is GOOD advice.
I however, would suggest you should lie!!!!!!

She got a new ring for Christmas, a new wood floor in the house(she's been dying for one for years), a new laundry room, nails done every 2-3weeks, I haven't bought anything since I went to the gun show last fall. I told her this will round out the collection.

Not saving for a house as we own one, no kids for a while, expressing the power of "Poon" I guess.

Oh well, this isn't the first, nor will it be the last time, she doesn't like me.

A good firearm, well cared for, will outlast any woman.[;)][:o)]

Cubs, Tori has no confidence in your guns. Here is how to fix this. Tell her you are going to sell one of your other guns that you paid $150 for, so you can afford the new gun. Now, list the gun in your local classifieds at say $400. tell her you that you got a call and are meeting someone that is interested. Come home with a dejected look and $400 in cash. Now, you have a woman that cant believe you almost tripled your money on one gun, and you have enough $ to purchase the new gun. Just dont let her see the old gun that you never sold. [:D]

Cubs, I have to believe that there's some more to this than what we're being told and that's perfectly okay. Only you and she can make it work - or not. Digging one's heels in to assert his or her own identity is probably a short-term and potentially volatile strategy at best. Caving in for the sake of appeasing the other may easily - and quickly - become a lifelong occupation. This is what lawyers often refer to as "The Slippery Slope". Best to be careful and talk it over first - probably at length - so that each of you knows where you're head is and where you're coming from. That's why it's called a relationship, i.e. how each of you relates and interfaces with the other. Buona Fortuna, Cubs!

I couldn't beleive what my wife wanted to try and pass by me. She told me how about whatever she spends on herself half of that goes to my gun fund. I promptly hung up the phone....... You get $1 I get $1 equal.

....sorry, can't relate. My better half TELLS me to buy guns.
Last one I bought off GB...I found at 0300, of course she was asleep. The "buy now" price was beyond great. I woke her up ([^]) to show her how great the price was...she said I'd better buy it at THAT price [:p]...so I did...[;)]

    Cubs,
Heres how I make sence of it all for my wife.
First we have been married 27 years & most of those have been really hard times so to speak, so my wife knows the value of a dollar.
I have always collected firearms, and have always hunted.
When it comes time for me to buy another gun , I buy it. But Barb & I had a little talk several years ago in front of the coffee drinking crowd, heres how that talk went.
First I started in on our damn goverment & the power they have to waste money, everyone agreed, then I questioned SS & if it would even be around when I was old enought to draw it, Most said it would not,
Then I said something to the effect of stocks & bonds & wondered if they might again crash someday, most said they would, so then I brought up that a person should invest in guns, collect them, keep them nice, & I would benifit 2 ways, First I would get to enjoy them till I was ready to sell, & second Firearms that are really taken care of very seldom lose money.
I went on to tell her that when I was ready to retire I would have an auction co. sell my collection, & we could use that money for our golden years.
If you put money on CD's you will pay tax on the Int earned, savings the same, an IRA and you can't get your money out without penalty, This is the only way I have found to save & not have to pay tax's on the gain yearly.
And if you do it right you won't have to pay tax's on the guns when you sell them.
The firearms also act as Life insurance, if you should die, then she, your wife could sell them & have unreported money to help with her expences after your death.
Just a thought & keep in mind NEVER CHEAT THE IRS[:D]
    Dan
