Personally, about 85 in my old 93 4 cylinder Tempo. It wasn't floored and wasn't shaking, and I think I could have topped out around 100.

Now that I got the 'Stang, I will try letting her out on a suitably deserted road once broken in.

I was riding with a buddy's dad who used to race a 69 Chevelle, 454 V8 and some mods. By the time I was hanging out with them, he only drove it now and then, a few times a year, but once went for a ride with him in it. Don't know how fast he was going but I would guess it was around 150 on a long straight stretch, floored.

Actually Zulu its a chevy metro; some think its the same thing, but I think of it as a chevy with a motorcycle (suzuki) engine.

The good thing about it is that the only 'plastic' on the engine is the cover for the timing belt (intake manifold, exhaust, bolck, heads, valve covers, and engine mounts are all metal). Virtually unheard of on modern engines. [^]

Oh dear, I'm falling way behind you SOBs. I've only driven about 90 or so... in my old 99 Nissan Sentra. On a few occasions. Usually about 85 max on the way home from long trips (back from the airport, and once back from an NRA dinner in another city). Then a little faster when I had to follow somebody who insisted on speeding like crazy... and he got quite ahead of me. I drove fast enough to keep him in view, because I didn't know how to get where he (and everyone else) was going. Crazy Norwegians.

My Nissan would start shaking in the wind above 85... wasn't stable. Not safe anyhow, neither from a crash perspective, nor a state trooper perspective.

A whole hell of a lot faster than that, like 160 (m's, not k's).

Last summer I got my 14-yr-old's Kawasaki KE100 motorcycle up to a blistering 43.6 mph. In a 40 mph zone! [:D]
