Admit it guys and girls
whats the fastest you ever drove?
[EDIT]
I was just a little faster than this, but the picture warranted taking it at this time. NO! I was not running from the police; however not too bad for a little metro. [;)]
No, it is not a photoshop. [8D]

BS, That's the same Stang I did my 120 in, that's what the needle was pointing past.0 -
Fine...believe what you want, I know what happened at 111...the governer kicked in and shut the engine off.
That was the Windstar that went 120. I was riding shotty.0 -

The Stang was still pulling after 110 for me. What gear were you in?0 -
142 in a Monte Carlo. (NEVER do this again - front end was light at speed)
151 in a 66 Corvette (425hp/427)
130+ in 1967 Biscayne (yes...it WAS half cop car!!)0 -
Mid "70's" new Vette (not mine) topped a rise doing around 80-90. 2 county Mounties standing outside their cars bs-ing. Punched it as soon as I saw them. They didn't even try to get in their cars, they probably figured I'd be in the next county by the time they got on the road.
Don't know what the top speed was, more interested in where I was going than how fast, but it was a nice straight road for quite a while after the next rise, and I kept it floored. You've heard the expression, telephone poles looked like a picket fence?0 -
The title didn't limit the reason for driving fast- about thirty years ago I ran the SCCA circuit and the fastest car I drove was a modified 427 Cobra. It had a Hewland 5 speed trans & four Weber 2-barrels. It didn't have a speedometer and with the variable gear ratios I didn't calculate what the RPM-Speed was, but when it was running some of the straights I'm guessing it would get to about 170-180 mph. At such times, one isn't too concerned with trivial things like how fast you are going. Hitting your marks and shifts tends to get your attention. 0 -
Thanks for all the confessions folks. Your tickets are in the mail.[:)] 0 -
I forgot about one day heading to SAT's about 7am on a Saturday morning. Just touched 140 in a '00 Camaro SS. All of a sudden a State Trooper flys by the opposite direction. I was a 2 lane road, and I saw his brakes light up and his nose dive. I was 5 mins from school. I hammered all the way down and thought, he's going to really have to try to get me. I got about 1mile away and saw him try to turn around, he couldn't do it and just carried on his way. A week later I got nailed by a County Mounty doing 35over, same road, exact same spot.
My first and only ticket.
I later passed one one night doing about 90 on a curvy two lane road, he tried to stop and turn around, I went around a curve, and turned up a huge hill. When I got to the top of the hill I looked in the mirror, he went flying by lights blazing.0 -
I burried the 160mph speedo in my 78 Firebird Formula that I rebuilt the 403 Olds motor (this was the TA motor in 78). I let out before hitting topend as it was just to much for that car's suspention and I was starting to get a bit of a vibration.
On a motorcycle I was not watching my speedo real close (I know at one point I was over 140) but I made it from Stockton CA to Sacramento CA in just about 15 minutes.0 -
Did the ride along with Richard Petty driving school at Charlotte Motor Speedway and we did 170. My wife took her ride and I was there with the video camera when she was pulled into the pits. She said "give the man another $90, I'm going again" 0 -
97 Aurora-- 120 mph and the engine shut off like you shot it with a gun, had plenty of rpms to go. 0 -
155 porsche 928s (with the sunroof open) about 20 yrs ago.
165 Dodge Viper...12 years ago
No more, too old.
This will cruise at 100 all day, but dont take it much past that.

I'm not real sure, after the vibration started getting severe I couldn't read the speedometer anymore, Probably in the 130's, I took the same bike to 10.45/110mph in bracket racing several times. Of course this was in the Seventies.... I got the speed bug out of my system after pairing up with a 48 Chevy powered Anglia that took out the tree, my bike and **** near me.... 0 -

Lived in Germany for eight years. Autobahns=no speed limits, would routinely do 100mph and get passed like I was standing still.
The AutoBahn has too many curves and turns, I prefer France to Amsterdam on the A3 it's a straight shot. or you can spend the $45 and take the high speed train.
oh yah, I never got the Ducati above 140 cause it lacks a steering dampener.0 -

120? in a 1973 Ford F100 4X4, 390 power. Speedo stopped at 100, but needle had swept past 100, across bottom of speedo and was back at "0". This was in 1979 I think.
85+ in this humping water to a fire.
That's sound a little fast when your hauling 3000+ gallons of water. I hope you have great roads that are flat and straight.
I've had our Engine that fast but only on state roads when they are dry.
Remember, you can't do any good if you don't get the Rigs there.0 -
130 in my Celica about 3 years ago, and 130 in my Mitsubishi Starion about 15 years back. 120 or 130 on my H2 when I was about 21 or so. 0 -
73 nova, built. not sure speedo was a 120 or 130 speedo and it was way past that laid down flat. 0 -
My Dad and I hit a piece of Guard rail that was in the middle of the road in a Nissan 300Z at roughly 120mph. Believe it or not no injuries, no crash. Front end of the car was ripped off, chasis bent, car totaled.
My GTI will hit 145, and you can even set the cruise at that speed. It's actually quite smooth if the road is in decent shape.0 -

Is that a Geo Metro dashboard? Sure as heck looks like the one I had to look at for the better part of a year.0 -
It is from a Geo Metro.
My 3 cylinder Geo Metro will also bury the speedometer past the 90 mph mark[:D]
And I get 52 mpg on the hwy.[:D][:D]0 -
I'll have to get a pic of my Tiburon's dash. 0 -
I felt the need for speed early in life. Also knew that gas would be hard on the wallet so I got it together young. Here I am trying to make off with my first"No-pay/Drive-away".Thought the parade would make for good cover.Grandma spotted me and collected the evidence.I got whoop'd for smokin' again[8D]
