As I suspected 33 rounders
Just saw a news story that Glock 33 rd mags were found empty on the floor of V tech. estimated rounds fired 200+.
To me it had to be... or someone would have had the chance to trip him up!!! I don't believe that chance ever occured now!!!

i can fire a round on target, drop the magazine, reload a new one off my belt and hit the target again in 90/100th of a second, with practice it is easier than you think0 -

Actually that is a pretty commom name for a magazine around these parts. Whether it is right or not... We end words with n instead of ing and we get a lot of crap for that too, mostly from people from the windy city...

M1 rifles are loaded with clips. Some rifle and pistol magazines are loaded with clips. The M16 rifle magazine can be loaded with or without a clip.

The report from the police on NBC said that he had 17 magazines, and some of them were the 33 round mags.
In an interview with a student, he said that the shooter was very adroit at changing mags.0 -

So from what I read, he killed 32 people and then himself, which makes 33. The doctors said that each person was shot a minimum of 3 times, though I am guessing he shot himself only once. So he had a minimum of 97 rounds on him. With that many magazines either he missed a lot or he had a lot left over when he was done.
So my thoughts, if you worked so hard to get a CCW you should not only be able to carry anywhere you go, but you should also carry a minimum of 30 rounds on you. Not so much because you would miss a lot, but there could be multiple attackers. But then under the stress you could miss a lot if you are not used to it. Either way, I am getting tired of talking about this guy. What matters to me now is what can be done to prevent these events from happening again. I think it comes from being able and actually carrying a gun at all times.0 -

97 rounds for the dead victims. Plus, he wounded about 15, one of which I know was shot 4[!] times. So call it 30 to 40 more shots for the wounded. In at least one classroom he fired 6 shots through the door without hitting anyone, two of the guys had the guts to stand there with their shoes jammed against the bottom of the door so he couldn't get in.
I have heard a police estimate that he fired 200 shots. At any rate, sounds like he had lots of ammo left when he shot himself.0 -

As 1911a1fan said, a magzine can be changed out in less then a second with practice.
with a vest full of 10 round magazines a mad man could accomplish the same amount of destruction.
The magazine capacity and restrcions really mean nothing.0 -

nope, actually the 33 round mags are a hindrance to accuracy, and maneuverability, while adding unneeded weight, while he did achieve a horrific act of killing a bunch of unarmed civilians he could have killed three times that amount with properly placed single shots
take a fully loaded 33 round mag, shoot 3 rounds rapid fire at ten yards, then take a ten round mag and do the same you will see the difference0 -

I was more or less rebutting the feel good laws from the people who would restrict high capacity magazines to make the public feel safer.
To say a ten round magazine restriction is safer for the public is feel good nonsense.
a 32 round magazine in a semi auto pistol is senseless to me.
In a select fire SMG it is the way to go but not a semi auto pistol.0 -

This is going to play right into the agenda of the anti-gun crowd that has been screaming about the large capacity mags.
This event comes at a bad time, the new liberal congress is full of anit-gun socialist progressives that are intent on disarming America to insure that all the power resides at the top levels.

Repoprts state he was methodical is his actions. Even if he wasn't, if a few guys rushed him he couldn't get all of them before they got to him. This is the premise of the age old military tactic of frontal assault, enough will survive to get to the objective. Why not try SOMETHING if certain death is the result if you don't? Stand around, with no way to escape, while he shoots everybody in the room? Not me or any men I know.0 -

I actually prefer shooting my Glock 19 with the 32 rounder in it. The added weight on the back of the gun lessens the muzzle rise and makes for quicker, more accurate, follow-up shots 0 -
Historically, people caught in these mass shooting sprees do not resist or fight back. They cower on the floor and wait to be shot. It doesn't matter what sort of gun is used or how much ammo it carries.
Recall about 30 years ago when a nut shot a bunch of people in a CA McDonald's? He used a single-shot shotgun, like a Topper. Reloaded for each shot as people cowered under tables awaiting their turn.
But what should we expect? Our culture stresses compliance with criminals. Many states (including my own which shocks me) require retreat in the face of criminal violence before resorting to effective self-defense. We are raised to "do as he says" and "don't resist" and "let the police handle it."
Well, the police can rarely handle it since criminals tend to not act when cops are around. And non-resistance will get you killed when the crimina;s' objective is murder.0 -
