I am looking to get a small caliber pistol mainly for target shooting probable in the $200 - $300 range. any sugestions?

normally something htis bad would not be shared, but before i sopend the time re-doing it would like some opinions
corian is VERY hard, especially cutting with knife/file doing the inlet, and if i ever do much of it will have to keep an extra checkering set to use only for that so i dont dull the one i use for wood
the idea was tossed to me by a member some time back and finally decided to see how it looked and how much time to do it

you can see where it cracked when i clamped too tight, and the inlets were rough, but you get the idea
checkering barely shows in the pick, but got VERY sharp0 -
What are your feelings on stores that limit primers to 1000 per cust. I kinda like it, I'm not against capitalism, I just feel that limiting them gets the needed components into the hands of the people that need them that cant afford to pay .10 a piece. In case SHTF. 0 -

say your hired by a private, armed security company that requires employess to caryy .38cal revolvers. in your opinion, should you be able to carry a .357 loaded with .38's?

I am looking for advice on a rifle. I want to target shoot for fun, maybe an occasional local tourny. I want accuracy from 50yds to 500+yds. Style wise I like the Ar15/ military style. I carried an m-16 for 3 years so I have a liking for it. I will be adding a scope to it.
.223, .308 etc? Price wise less than 1500. Who should I stay away from?

What do you guys think about these, they're vinyl decals, made to put on your car. Do you think they deter crime, or promote hostility and escalate situations? I was kind of thinking that they would have a negative effect, and do more harm than good. 0 -

but what if you were to have a holster such
as a flap type that completely covered the
weapon making it not visable, but not hiding

Also, your parked car would be a target for anti gun vandals wishing to make a statement. On that point I speak from experience.0 -

It depends on who you are trying to effect... and perhaps where you live.
If you're trying to stop the impatient retard behind you, honking his horn because you didn't turn from a stop sign that would definitely have caused an accident, it may work.
If the other driver in question is either unarmed, or armed with a melee weapon - he may think twice about letting out his road rage... granted he believes the stickers.
If it's a gangster strolling through a parking lot who sees your vechile, while you are in a fast food joint getting grub; he may think there's a gun inside, and might be more likely to break into your car than the one next to you.
If you live in a gun friendly small town, you may not have to worry so much about your neighbors.
You may want something that's a little less "hostile" You'd probably be better off getting some NRA magnets and a license plate frame... that's what I use. That at least sends them the message, but not quite as confrontational as those. If you ever decide you want to take the stickers off, it's going to be a female dog... and you don't be able to put them back on.
I had a cop pull me over once because I slowly passed a school bus with its stop sign out on the other side of the street. I had some pretty inflammatory bumper stickers at the time (not unlike the ones you are displaying), but he didn't say a damn thing to me about them. Hell, he didn't even ask me for my registration, only my license. Not only that, but he didn't give me a ticket. This is probably the "exception" cop. But, I also pulled over immediately after I passed the bus... which is where he had his car parked. I started pulling over before he even put his lights on...0 -

I personally know some Maryland and D.C. cops that use those stickers to identify cars to give more attention to. They will follow them until they have a real reason to pull them over, like crossing the center line or something. Then see if they can catch them armed in MD or D.C., where it is virtually impossible to get a carry permit. I do not put any stickers of any kind on my vehicles. 0 -

I don't worry about that. I abide by the laws of the area that I am in. If an officer wants to pull me over to check, I will be more than happy to let them check.
I am not advertising for the officers out there, I am telling the criminals that I will not be an easy target.
That was like when I lived in California. I had a large window in my front room and would sit in front of it a couple times a week in the evenings cleaning guns. On 2 accations I had the Lodi PD stop by and ask me not to do this. I informed them that I was not breaking any law by cleaning my guns in my front room and that I was porposly doing it to let the scum of the nieghborhood to basicly not screw with me as they might get shot doing so. That nieghborhood had some gangbangers running around it, and my ways seemed to have worked as they steered way clear of me and would even avoid comming down my street if they saw me.
So I proudly let people know that I am armed!0 -
...besides looking like a dork, I don't think I would advertise I'm carrying...not because of the chance of being pulled over...just because I don't see ANY avantage in alerting some scum bag to the fact I am armed.
The sticker reminds me of the people that "feel" the need to buy and carry one of those CHL/CCW badges in one of those Joe Friday

But I don't live in Texas... There's no state law requiring "notification" I honestly can't think of a good way to tell an officer I'm carrying. Out of the blue, without being questioned about the subject "Just so you know..." I think that would put most cops on high alert until they saw your license...
Now, were I asked to step out of the car, I would have... Here, if you hand it over and they didn't expect it, they may wonder why you showed it. Hell, if the cop happens to be a member of the brady campaign, it may send off alarm bells in his head and he may give you quite a hard time.0 -
...I realize state laws governing CHL/CCW may vary somewhat state to state...just here least ways...you up your CHL while handing the LEO your DL...helps to keep "suprises" to a minimum, and avoids the real possibilty of a short suspension...of your CHL...[8D].
Ive only had to hand over mine once in the last nine years, I'm a safe ([:0][B)]) driver and don't get pulled over.
I was in a fight and had to show ID (DL) and since when ask for your DL you must also handover your CHL...my CHL is in a holder w/my DL. I knew what was going to happen, so I'd left the gun in the truck...and he dang sure ask if I;d had it on me during the fight...I didn't, mutual combat, no biggie and I was on my way in 10 minutes...[;)]0 -
Even the NRA advises against bumper stickers and decals in plain view.
In a court of law, these might be misconstrued as a premeditation or previous intention to inflict harm by a legal gun owner.

I'd rather not advertise to the world the following:
1. I own firearms owner manuals*
2. I'm armed with said owner manuals
3. I'm willing to use said owner manuals
I particularly don't want those signs on my car. The anti-gun zealots are a violent bunch themselves. They'll justify trashing a car if it only means to tell the owner that guns are evil and should be banned, because only a sick, violent monster would ever consider owning one. Moreover, I don't want some drug-addicted scumsucker to think that there's a gun inside my car, break in, find nothing, and steal the stereo while he's in there.
*Guns are evil. They spray bullets everywhere because they have minds of their own. They kill innocent babies, husbands and wives, along with innocent street thugs children just wanting to play after-school basketball unmolested. Guns can be completely unloaded and left unattended on the kitchen counter and they will cause mayhem and destruction. Nobody needs to own a gun. If we banned all guns, then this world would be a better place and instead of trading gunfire, we'd be trading hugs and greet each other with a nice kiss.
