I agree with you about summer BR!! I hate them! When it's as hot out as it is today up here, we won't eat much at all. Maybe some fruit for lunch and lots of iced tea. If we get hungry around supper time, maybe a bowl of cereal or something. Just too dang hot to eat or heat the house up by cooking in the kitchen. Spring and fall are bbq times.

I understand your issues with summer in the South Beth, and before my diabetis, I would live on fresh fruit or fruit salad. Cool and refreshing here in the hot summers of Texas. Add it to you summer menu and see if it helps.

Hey Hobby,.......if you have a recipe for that sauce, send it to me!
Sounds really good, as I hate the regular soy sauce that is like drinking liquified salt.

Hope you and Sara have a wonderful time....I read your post and thought of you using the old "honey the battery is dead" line on Sara....

Sorry hon, my mind is in a weird place today...Anywho, I love chicken, hot, cold, baked, fried, whatever..that and seafood but classic is not overly fond of it...he loves prime rib...(not me)

    Dheff...
We do eat a lot of fruit, but even that gets tiresome...and salads..have green salad at every meal almost, or coleslaw ...then potato salad, macaroni salad, etc....

I have to go get a few groceries in a bit, so I will find something...flippin freezer is almost full already but its roasts, steaks etc...

YOu know, I could get classic his fav NEW ice cream and he would eat that and be totally satisfied...

    Its hagen daz

PINEAPPLE COCONUT, and he loves it..

Wait until you have a 32 year old son move back in. You learn it doesn't matter how much you make, he will eat it all before he goes to bed.

BlackRoses, i completely understand, our AC is on 24/7, its damn near 100 today, but ill hop in the pool later. Usually the Water is pretty warm in the pool, but the rain water from the last couple days cools it down. I hate summer down here in florida. We moved down here in august two years ago, and it had to be 100-103 in the middle of the day.

Use the microwave and the crockpot for as many meals as you can. I've got an exhaust fan over our oven that sends the majority of the heat outside so it's not a big deal for us. You can make a lot in the old cockpot though. Much more energy efficient too.

Problem is, the local KFC/Taco Bell, McDonalds, Pizza Hut and many more are less than a 5 minute ride away. Too convenient.

I really like something Mom used to make: Sliced tomatoes, sliced liverwurst, sliced sweet onions and Ritz crackers. I marinate the tomatoes and onions in vinegar for about an hour. Chase with lemonade.

How about a nice fresh garden salad with plenty of tomatoes and cucumbers? Topped off with dressing of your choice. Oh, and this is SC, and for me, if the tar in the road ain't flowing like water, it's still cold. [:)]

I really hate summers, always have, always will...too hot, too muggy, just toooooo damn everything...

I love cooking but cant in the summer...too freakin hot, get tired of cold cuts, salads, hot dogs ...

And no, neither one of us really likes a bbq....

So what does everyone else have on hot days?....I want some ideas for dinner..

Can't imagine Summer ever going away, so you can chose to be miserable or you can make the best of it. I enjoy eating and summer is when things grow. Watermelon, cucumbers, sunflowers.
Plant a garden and put in a koi pond under the trees, a cool place to sit while watching the critters frolic about it.
Turn on a sprinkler and play in it. If you are so old you've forgotten what to do, watch some kids. They will be happy to show you how to have a good time.[;)]

I have played in the water as much as any adult without getting committed....and no I am not that old...

I didnt say I was miserable, I just said I hated summers...Even in Canada I hated summers....that does not make one miserable, just smart...at least I admit that I hate summers...A lot of ppl dont and that just makes them miserable and mean..

I know the feeling. I do enjoy cooking, even in the summer, and I like to do seasonal things.

How about a huge tossed salad with fresh tomato, lettuce, cucumbers, onions, squash, any other fresh veg you have,,FRESH now..Don't ruin it with Kraft Krap..Make your own dressing, starting with olive oil, adding good wine, what you would drink, no junk, then just feel for it with whatever herbs and spices you have..Pitch some sliced chicken breast on top..Sip a bit of the good Merlot with it..The same bottle you used to make your salad. Some nice crackers might be good on the side, or some blue corn chips..
