Reflections of classic cars/trucks in your life
At 63yo, there are many cars I have owned that are now classics that I wished I still had, naturally. Also, I remember 2 particular cars owned by my Dad when I was a kid. One was a 1947 Hudson Super-Six with the "suicide" rear doors. Had the biggest back seat (leg room galore) of any car I can remember. Another one he owned (I was about 8yo) was a 1940 Ford Coupe
it was virtually destroyed by a tornado; but, saved our lives in the process.

It was stolen in 1984. Black Truck.
I was working for an Autobody shop and in the process of a complete restoration/semi custom job, so the truck had more meaning to me from the work and efforts I was putting into it.
I also installed a split 5 way electric seat out of a Tbird that I thought fit it real well, atleast better then the original worn out bench seat.0 -

Yep, all of the cars in the pictures are sold. We now have the JagXK8 and thats it.
No offense here, the Jag is a great classy car...but I'd take the GN is a heartbeat over the Jag..JMHO..the Mazda was a cool car for its time too0 -

fun cars that I owned:
78 Camaro: built with a 450 HP 383, Rossi built TH350 and a Vette products suspension kit, set up for canyon carving but still ran 12.8's, I wrecked it the day before I left for boot camp[V]
76 Camaro: 500 HP 408 SB, Rossi built manuel valve body TH400 (after I granaded 2 M-21's and a M-22), Vette products ultimate suspension kit, set up for open road racing and was areodynamically limited to 175MPH, Blew up the motor back in 97 and was too busy racing SC and SE to rebuild it, still sitting in storage.
84 Camaro: ZZ-4 transplant with a bit of work, turned 425 HP on engine dyno, toy shop built 700r4, hochkiss susp, just a fast and CA smog legle street car, sold it to my dad and he now gets 1000 miles per set of rear tires, ran 12.8 at pomona w/ cheater slicks.
72 914, 2.0, ran autocross with it and besides tires and basic wear itams it remained mostley stock, it was stolen and never recovered[V]
84 Subaru GL Wagon, raced one rally and was wrecked, I decided that Drag racing was much nicer to my body[B)]
99 Yancer 210" Rear Engined Dragster, last motor was a 632 CI BBC turning 1300 HP, best pass was 7.02 @ 202MPH, ran in super comp and super E

this is the closest i have had to a classic car i guess?...1986 camaro
pretty nasty 327 in it ...gonna drag race it when i get it set up little more to my liking...changed rear end ratio to 4.11 few days ago...took it out this evening and ran it...this is not official but looks to be between 110-115mph in the 1/4[:D].....need to get higher rpm stall converter than what it has in it now to get off the line better.
do have a 1963 ford f100 short box pickup...no pictures of it though0 -
Very sanitary looking car. And, one thing you can be sure of - if you keep it long enough, it WILL be a classic.

One way to define the word "classic" for cars is any car that is over 20 years old. Your Camaro is of drinking age so it is a classic.
Word of advice, make sure you upgrade the track link and think about a set of subframe conectors before any serious track time. I learned that the hard way on my '84 and now the rear hatch dosen't close right.0 -

Zipper - a "tub" Porsche is a speedster, convertable D, or roadster, and BOY are they expensive. You can still get a nice A coupe (55-59) or C/SC coupe (64, 65) for cheap, and either is nicer than the B coupe (60-63). Of them all, I'd go for a SC coupe.

True, but what were the prevailing wages at the time...I'd venture to say adjusted for inflation that new cars "back in the day" are cheaper than todays models.
And the old ones have something the current ones don't...personality (not talking about hi-perf cars like Corvette, Porche, Mustang GT etc)0 -

My father sold a 64 1/2 Mustang, 4 cyl auto eight years before I got my license. Ouch.

Me I've always been a Ford guy. First car was a '64 Galaxie 500 2dr.ht. that we bought from my aunt and uncle in '78. Had 52K original miles on it and it was sweet except for the paint. Wrecked it and bought a '70 Mustang coupe, drove it for a few years, sold it and bought a '67 Mustang Fastback, restored it and drove it for threee or four years, then bought a '69 Mach 1 while I was in the service in '86. Restored it and kept it till '94. Also bought a '70 Cougar Eliminator to restore, but sold it to finance my current car. While in the service in Cheyenne, Wyo. I came across a '69 Mach 1 body. All striped and parted out but it was an original 428 Super Cobra Jet witht the dragpack option. Ended up buying it in '88 for 300 bucks and it still had the original 9 inch rear. Brought it home and started restoring it in 94 or so and finished in '95. Still have it and wouldn't sell it for anything........less then 90K. Its a really sweet car, silver jade green with white deluxe interior. 0 -
I've still got the only real classic I ever owned, my '66 Impala 2 dr. hardtop. If I'd get off my tail and get the heads done, and pick up a rebuilt transmission, the 283 could come out and the big block could go in. It's suffering from severe cancer. I either have to find a donor car down south that's been hit in the front, or start buying new sheet metal for the back. Everything behind the doors has to be replaced.

only a couple of them,like the others to many to remember one of my favs. 1966 chevy nova 327ci-L79 350hp, 4sp,4:11gears all stock blk int. my first project when i was 17yrs old,bought it off the original owner,with 35,000miles,i still have the original air cleaner w/dual chrome snorkels,and this is another one of my favorites,1972 elcamino ss 402bb turbo 400,12bolt w/4:11 posi,motor was bored .30,holley 850dbl pumper,396/375 cam,man was this car fun,actually burn rubber thru second gear until it shifted into third....ahhh! the memories of buying L60s every two months[lol],Loko[:D][8D]
