I read on Jayski this morning that Jr. was looking at going to either Hendricks or Childress. I figured he was playing hardball in the negotiations with DEI. 0 -

I doubt that this is playing hardball now.
And even bigger is that it looks like Truex is going with him. And Jr's crew chief allready said he would go were Jr. goes.
DEI will be in a world of hurt with no drivers and their top crew chief gone. And I'll bet that alot of other crew members and sponsers will go as well.
Also raises the questions of who will drive for DEI and who there sponcers will be?
I see alot of termoil ahead in NASCAR!0 -
I'd like to see him have 51% of DEI and drive for Hendricks,...talk about an untouchable team[8D] 0 -

I see alot of termoil ahead in NASCAR!
Including Eury Sr, who is Menard's crew chief.
I mean if you think about it like this. He was reportedly offered a cost of 55 million for DEI. He could put that 55 Million into a shop that he already has 20 million or so invested in and be ahead in the end. I think its a winning situation for him. Truex and Dale get along real well and Truex has been running strong except for the darn miss fortunes that he has been having this year.
For DEI to lose its two drivers puts the company in a big bind. It would not be hard for him to buy cars off of Hendricks to start out with either, teams sell chassis all the time. Buy a few cars to start until you get your fabrication team up for the task and put a good person in charge and start winning.0 -
DEI should have given him 51%. 49% of something is one heck of a lot better than 100% of nothing. That's upper management for you----they can make some really stupid decisions---seen it many times in my 63 years. Now, they can sit back and pat themselves on the back and say "I guess we showed him". 0 -

and be out of a job in how many years?0 -
Both siblings have said that if a deal with DEI was not in place by the end of May, they would consider a variety of options, including Junior leaving DEI. Just last week, DEI confirmed that it was talking with Robert Yates Racing about a possible merger and also a switch from Chevrolet power plants and chassis to Ford engines and chassis.
Dale Sr. would surely die if he was still alive and this happened. Of course if he were still alive it wouldn't.0 -

also a switch from Chevrolet power plants and chassis to Ford engines and chassis.
Chassis are built by the shop they are in or by someone else in the business. There isn't such a thing as a Chevy chassis or a Dodge chassis, ect. There is different skins that go on the cars, but that is not the chassis. They would be using the same chassis they have been running, just with a 'ford' skin. But DEI is not going to switch and Yates won't switch, so they will not be able to come to a deal.0 -
Can you say Hendrix engines.. 0 -

I agree DEI will be in a world of hurt with Jr. gone, and their sponsors, but "top" crew chiefs? Just what has DEI won since their inception? A few races? Only championships count. All this does is seal Jr's fate as another Mark Martin. An extremely popular driver who will never win a cup. At least he saw the light and will run Hendricks engines. [:D]0 -

DEI is still a young cup team, you don't see Ganassi and other young teams winning championships do you or races for that matter? Jr has won 17 times, thats more then other young companies. DEI has also won 4 Busch championships. The company is only about 10 years old, and only been racing in the cup for 7 years now, 5 of those with one team, and winning. How long have Rousch and Hendricks been racing?0 -
DEI without JR. is a museum.
I thought DEI made some pretty darn good engines. Seems strange to scrap them and go with Yates engines.
#8?
or some other number like say three
GM Goodwrench is not sponsoring anyone.
Anyway...I always thought a black Bud car with red lettering would be cool. A reverse color scheme.
Hendrix? Not RCR?0 -

The black bud car raced one race last year (either the allstar or the 600 I don't remember which). It was a cool looking car!0 -
Budwieser has announced that they do have an option on their contract and would be able to leave DEI to go with Jr. according to Fox sports. 0 -

off course they have something like that in there, same thing with UPS and dale jarrett. Sponsors have so much money invested in the driver, they won't let them get away.0 -

Yea but the reason I posted what Bud said is it shows that they are prepaired to leave and follow Jr.
I would almost bet on the fact that Bass Pro will also go to follow Truex as well.
Just more proof that this will be a major blow to DEI!
DEI will allways survive though. They will make millions every year just selling stuff with Dale Sr's name on it. But they will take a major hit in the raceing end of the company.0 -
It's time for Teresa to wise up. They are both better off together than apart. 0 -
I read Jr. has like 70 employees working for him already!?!?!? Big business running a part time Busch team. Is it still Busch Series? 0 -

Yea but Teresa does not want Sr's other kids to benifit from the company. She feels that only her and the 1 child she had with Dale should benifit.[:(]0 -

He has 1 Busch and a few teams in the next level down in late models.0 -

Its a full time Busch team, has been for the last two years.0 -

Thats hard to say, but very possible. The one thing that Bass Pro doesn't have in money with Truex is commercials. I don't think I have seen him in any commercials for Bass Pro, in fact are there even Bass Pro commercials? Anyways, thats where the big time money is spent with the driver. I read somewhere last year when UPS decided to move with Jarrett, that they had something like 10 million wrapped up in the several commercials that he did for them. That is just the time and money to shoot the commercial, not sponsorship money.0 -

They don't have it in TV ads but they sure do in magazine type ads. Granted that does not cost as much, but I gauerentee they have a bunch of money tied up that way. I am allways seeing those types of ads with Truex.0 -
Should Jr. leave DEI , what are the chances that maybe Tony Stewart moves in to take his place in the #8 [:o)]
I had a feeling something was up with Hendricks , when Jr. drove the few final laps in the # 5 car when Busch left the track after wrecking at ( I think [B)] ) Texas or Phoenix0 -

That would never happen!
JD Gibbs will pay what ever it takes to keep Stewart where he is! After all Stewart and Home Depot is Gibbs Raceing's bread and butter!0 -

DEI is still a young cup team? Ganassi a young team? Oh boy! Ganassi has been in business with NASCAR since 2000 and has had success in the past with Sterling Marlin. Don't forget, Ganassi had unbelievable success in open wheel before NASCAR. If Marlin hadn't broken his neck, he would have won a CUP for Ganassi. DEI was founded in 1983! Yeah,a young team! They started fielding Busch cars, then in 1995, truck teams. In 1998, they went Cup racing. So, yeah, they are a "young" team! DEI's main driver is 32! And lest you Jr. fans forget, HE HAS NEVER WON A CUP CHAMPIONSHIP, HASN'T WON A RACE IN A YEAR, AND HAS WON ONLY 2 RACES SINCE 2004! Keep drinking the kool-aid, you Jr. fans. It will all be OK in the end. He, and you, can cry with Mark Martin over the lost opportunities.
And as for Teresa...You go girl! SHE and Dale founded that company. SHE was the first person the payroll. SHE was the one who pushed the "image" of "The Intimadator" and made him what he was. Seems to me that Jr. is making a good living off his dad's name now. She was the man's wife. She can do what she wants. Think she will miss the money from DEI? Doubtful. Her gravy train is still the Earnhardt image, and she is riding that for all it's worth. I don't blame her a bit!0 -

So you are saying that if something ever happened to you that you would expect your wife to hord everything and not provide a DAMN thing for your kids?!?!?!
I sure in the HELL hope you don't have any kids with that attitude!
I will never say Teresa should not benifit from Dale's name or his empire! But she was only married to him! His kids are his BLOOD! And I think that carries more weight than just being married to him!0 -
quote:So you are saying that if something ever happened to you that you would expect your wife to hord everything and not provide a DAMN thing for your kids?!?!?!
There goes the kool-aid, kicking in again. Explain to me how in the heck Dale Sr DID NOT provide for Jr? After abandoning the kid for most of his childhood and shipping him off to military school, he comes back and Sr. gives him the most coveted Busch ride of all time! Then he moves him up to the Cup series. How much do you think Jr is worth now? Don't you think a lot of that is due to his DAD? Yep, he provided well for Jr. He gave him a chance. That is the best thing you can give your kid! And tell me, how in the hell has Sr. provided for his and Teresa's kid? Doesn't she deserve a percentage of DEI also? After all, she has Sr's "blood" also. Oh yeah, and Teresa provided HALF of that blood! Maybe she should get 51% ownership! After all, it was her MOTHER and DAD that built that company. It was around long before Jr. came into the picture. He and Kelly were still off in military school when it was founded. And yes, my father owns his own company. Founded it in 1946. I don't expect to get anything out of it. My mom will, if she outlives him. If not, the equipment and company will be sold and the procedees split between the heirs. But if mom gets it, she cand do whatever she wants with it, and I won't complain. Both of them built it, sacrificed for it, and made it what it is.0 -

But Jr. is only earning what a NASCAR driver makes.
He and his siblings (his asking for majority owenership is not just in his name, it is for his siblings as well) should be entitled to something of thier fathers empire!
Yes Jr's dad got him started. But it was on the basis of a job. And yes Jr. is worth millions as it is. But that does not excuse the fact that he and his siblings should be entitled to part of the company that their father founded.
The only reason they didn't get anything was Sr's will was to vage(SP) and Teresa took advantage of that fact and has left Sr's kids from his other marrages out in the cold.
Sr. had 4 other kids besides the one with Teresa and not one of them has gotten CRAP of thier fathers company or of his wealth! And that is just wrong in my book!0
