What do you think about "POACHERS"?
Here's one i found right here on GB!! This CRAP really Pissus [:(!]ME OFF!!
Yes that's POACHIN. Season on Snook starts 9/1. If he "paddled to shore" with it, he "poached" it...

Woke up early. Put my 9' kayak in the water about 1 hour before sunrise. paddled about 250 yards to a dock with a light. Made 3 or 4 casts, and paddled back to shore with 33" Snook. got home before the wife woke up. What a life!

He might be a liar also...poachers are tards in my book..I wasn't raised that way..I would turn them in if I had evidence and proof..he probably ate the evidence..and it would be your burden to prove he even done the deed..I have no problems calling the warden on scum who tresspass and poach wildlife..Loko [V] 0 -

There are many families around here that go back 6 or 7 generations and they are in financial straits, due to the tree huggers shutting down the mills.
I do not support poaching, but these guys do it to feed their families. They are my friends and neighbors and I have a lot of compassion for them. Parts of the area around me make Appalachia look like Beverly Hills in comparison. These people are not "sport" hunters/fishermen, and have given a lot to our country.
I think, that lacking any alternative, I don't object to them feeding their familieas.

I have no problem with killing something out of season if they need to feed their family. i'd do it myself. but for someone to kill something out of season just because they can and want to, is plain wrong and they need to be turned in and pay the price. 0 -

I agree with you totaly Doug, but that's not the topic.I don't consider killing out of nescesity (sp)ae "POACHING". Killing a SNOOK, just because it hit your plug, wile out of season IS POACHING, plain n simple..

Okay, I agree with you. If hunting and fishing out of season to feed your hungry family might be called "existence" food gathering, and everything else is "poaching", then I'm all for stringing them up.
Seems like the various state laws ought to take that into account.

The best hunters & trakkers were/are poachers, there skills are the best..alert/quick & keen,using the tools around them, to keep it light weight & not to get caught..all the guys i know started that way, they can read the land like the back of there hands,(Real hunters) better than anyone who 'sports'..& most are now land keepers & game wardens!![^]oh, & can fight like a pit bull to protect .[;)] 0 -
Maybe there should be a license - issued for free - for people who need to hunt/fish in order to feed their families ??
Maybe one could only get it through the food stamp program, or some other existing welfare - I hate to use that word - program that already exists.

In America there is really no excuse for poaching to feed your family. There are state and federal programs that provide food stamps and relief.
When you poach game you are stealing a public resource that belongs to all Americans.
Poachers are just people who are lazy and selfish inconsiderate people.0 -
What do I think about poachers? Usually pretty tough, not that tasty, but if I need to feed my family, I'll shoot one! You know, when I think about it, my kids and grandyoungin's are always hungry, and local food bank is always lookin' for fresh meat. We should all do more for our community. 0 -

i love this, we sit here with our stomach full, bills paid, today's drama is whether we want store beer or a home brew to chase down a shot of expensive whiskey, while some guy has to kill a out of season deer to feed his family we call him a thief, then bullfooey that we have an arsenal for when shtf we can do as we need to survive
while i'm not defending the original topic, selling his boat if he where hungry would be equal to selling the rifle you would use to feed your family, it may buy food for awhile but you will always be hungry after that is gone

The funny thing is, that the original post was made in April of this year. Snook season is closed Dec 15th through January 31st and the months of June, July and August. There is also a slot limit, meaning that fish kept have to be between 26" and 34".
So, the snook in question which was caught on 4/27/07 and was 33" long was completely LEGAL!0 -

Am I really supposed to be outraged because some guy killed a fish two weeks early? I might if he were using dynamite or some such thing to kill wholesale numbers of fish, but is one fish really going to make that much difference to the snook population? There are plenty of things going on that enrage me a lot more. 0 -
