I don't have ANY coverage, health, dental or otherwise and I STILL say screw Hillarycare and anyone who can't afford medical expenses. It's their problem, not mine, just as my problems are mine and not theirs.

That is a very intelligent,.......and almost unheard of response.
I agree with you, although I do have insurance.
    I pay for it myself,.......self-employed.
Don't wanna pay for yours, and you don't wanna pay for mine.
That is how it should be.

Wake up nothing is free and you have to make choices, have you ever seen the government give anything free. So many entitlements the program to insure everyone would sink us. When people realize they can vote entitlements it will be the end of us. Look up Hillary care on the net and you will see it will cost many many times over what she states. How much should people be able to make and still get free insurance, drunks, drugies,ILLEGALS. socialize medicine sucks. Yes insurance costs suck but as it started out it was for catastrophic illness not everyday colds and such. Were having a hard time supplying Social Security and Medicare now and when you add the free medical your taxes will be higher than what you pay now and won't get the same care as now. Why do you think your insurance is high now, it covers the uninsured like the illegals.[:(!]

1911,......I am glad you are insured now![;)]
I don't quite get where your obvious anger about this issue comes from?
What do you do for a living?
If you are not able to work, because of your Lupus, how do you compete in many disciplines of shooting, and how do you afford the ammo for that at todays prices?
I know that you ran, or owned, "strip clubs" in the past,.....no benefits there? And if they are such sources of big money, what did you do with it all?
Regardless of that,......our Constitution, nor our Bill of Rights, guarantees us to "healthcare".
It is another part of life, just like property taxes, and homeowners insurance.
You either pay the price, or you "roll the dice"!
I, like you, do not like the use of the ER's by illegals, and even citizens, that take their kids there for benign issues that do NOT require ER care.
Why has this become ANOTHER "right", that the momma government should provide.
60% of the adult population is obese, and many of their children are becoming the same, with ALL of the health issues that go along with the American lifestyle.
I wish you the best,.......but I have no desire to see universal healthcare in this country.[;)]

you never see me shooting in summer matches, reloading helps with cost, i get everything at dealers cost typically at tax time i buy one lump sum of supplies and ration them all year, one kid in public school one in college, it's not cheap, i do save my very small weekly allownce for gun money, but it is not near enough to buy insurance, even when it gets big it may be a month or two worth of coverage then it's gone and start all over

it just urks me to hell to see that every unamerican or minority gets health insurance, every person that makes welfare their career can get it, but what allot that oppose it do not realize it will benefit middle class white Americans the most because the rest already have it, payed for by yours and my tax dollars

now that the wife is back to work it helps, but damn everything is going up so rapid, it's scary to go to the grocery store, i would probably loose my house if one of us got really sick or injured, don't know how long i will have the insurance, but i can tell you i will get my moneys worth by the end of this year, my youngest needs braces, my lupus needs checked on, if they will allow it as it is a pre existing condition, i need my 40's physical, i'm the only person on both sides of my parents family that is over 40 and don't have diabetes, all my aunts/uncles have it, and heart disease , believe me it is a horrid feeling knowing that these diseases along with cancer runs so heavy in your family, but you'll never know if you ever have it until it is to late, wife is having problems herself, but she can't take off work we have insurance to pay for

    1911a1fan --

Wasn't going to weigh in on this, other than to make a joke about your sarcasm (of which I approve), but the more replies I read to your post, the more amazed I am at how crystal-clear-cut life is for so many people. I don't ask for anything to be easy, but once, just once, it'd be cool to be able to feel so Godalmighty right about anything, as some people do about everything.

My dad worked his butt off his whole life, starting at age 14. Never had insurance, that I know of, till very late in life. Now my mom's stuck working at Wal-Mart (otherwise known as The Portal To Hell), for the insurance, because my dad's got pancreatic cancer and needs every bit of help he can get to even have a slim fighting chance of dying of old age. Us kids help out, as we can, but, in my case, my regular employment pays about 3/4 of my monthly bills. Odd jobs for odd people cover the rest -- and the occasional use of a credit card I took custody of in my recent divorce. This card does a tightrope act on the edge of maxing out, that scares the living bejeebers out of me when I have the time and energy to actually be scared at all. So, I'm not much help to the folks, other than to be long-since out of their house and needing zilch from them, materially.

I have health insurance, through my job. I make very little use of it, because most of my ailments are in the form of injuries which I usually suffer due to carelessness, and I'm too proud to ask for help with a problem I created for myself. On the plus side, I'm a wiz at splinting fingers and staunching major bleeding -- I might even have need to do so for someone other than myself, one day.

Getting back to my dad -- ultra-loyal American. Hard worker all his life. Won't ask for help, even now. Paid into the system his whole damned life and, when he desperately needed help that wasn't to be had, refused to apply for any form of assistance. Probably couldn't have gotten it anyhow.... Lost pretty much everything he had. As I say, he's got cancer. I know there are programs for the elderly and sick (Medicare, Medicaid, etc -- I know little about these things so I may have called something wrong, there), but the insurance mom has through Wally World seems to do better for them than Gov't programs they've looked into. But, if she gets too old or sick to work....

Anyone out there want to tell me to my face that the man I just described, if one more roll of the dice goes against him, should be left to fall by the wayside and die an ugly, painful death, because his kids are as financially strapped as he is and you're terrified that an illegal alien or welfare addict might benefit as a side effect of some sort of decent Government health care? Seems to me the taxes I pay would be better-spent on something like this than on 90% of the drizzly fecal matter that oozes out of our national and state capitols on a daily basis.

I am not in favor of universal health care, precisely because of the illegals, the freeloaders, and the other parasites which, unfortunately, in a nation of eighty zillion people, will always be with us and figure out ways to use the system. Neither am I in favor of letting all who can't cut it, die, and to Hell with the weaklings anyway. Some ain't weak, or dishonest, or leeches. I just don't know where or how to draw the line between who's deserving, and who's not, and I'm not so simple-minded as to take a variation on the "kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out" attitude with hard-working citizens of my own country. So, I'd like to see something -- but don't know what -- only know that I don't want to be in Hillary's village and subject to the Bible-thick stack of asinine rules that living there will entail.

Best of luck, 1911. You're one I hope catches a break.

lets take a look at the uninsured, about 1/3 are illegals, and 1/3 or so are collage kids (probably on moms an dads ins), and the other are Americans that are more than likely healthy and really don't see a need for it right now. theres very few that would need it and want it

i didn't take it offensive at all, i thought it was rather helpful actually

i'm not for hillary care at all, but as i stated in the other thread we need to bring awareness to folks like your father vs. those can and are now able to exploit it strictly due to their race, if hillary bring just awareness to the problem i feel some are "cutting off their nose to spite their face" just because it is her, and pretending the problem doesn't exist, while leroy, and juan even have free dental

my dad died at 62 with nothing, he went in with suspected cancer contracted staph and was dead in a week, if he would have had insurance he could have been taken to a real hospital, and received a better diagnosis and care, his last words where spoken to me, he looked up said my name and said "i'm dieing", then fell into a coma till they pulled the plug a few days later, that's what free clinics do for you

you can speculate all you want, illegals are entitled to free health care if they seek it, my 19 year old who is in collage does not qualify for my insurance

1911 maybe this might help with cost, yes I feel for you and others but how did we get there by people abusing it and the government seeing that the illegals get help first.

Insurance is cheap and affordable. You can get 8 MILLION in catastrophic coverage for less than 200 bucks a month at age 50.

Having insurance pay for healthy care and simple medical issues is ridiculous. Your car coverage does not change your oil or pay for tires and windshield wiper blades. Why should health insurance pay for a doctors office visit because you got a runny nose?

That was once true. BUT...back when that held true a simple x-ray didn't cost $500. A trip to the doctor for just a physical didn't cost $900. A broken leg today can set you back over $5000. It is prices that are absolutely out of control! And they need to be fixed, somehow, someway.

Where I live we have a minimal amount of "illegals" but we have our fair share of "Welfare" cases.. The hospital I use the emergency room is constantly full of "welfare" patients WHY? because the sign on the wall states "We must treat you regardless of your insurance or inability to pay for the services" so the emergency room is the place to go rather than a clinic..

My neighbor next door was on Medicaid "welfare medicine for the poor" she was in the hospital 5 times for minor strokes and finally died, the point being she was a human being and why deny her medical attention just because she was poor?

I agree the system is broke, not everyone can afford the high costs of insurance especially when the median income in this state is minimum wage.

There is a problem in some areas with the illegals and the costs for them, on the other hand at least down here US citizens on the public dole are also a big chunk of the problem.

It is a very tough question.
Most of the welfare cases are on Medicaid, and that situation has existed for years.
I was not aware that "illegals" have full coverage insurance with dental too. I am not disputing this, just have never heard of such a thing. I know they use our ER's for their medical care, but thought that was where it ended.
I would have every test known to man, that applies to your conditions, done while you have insurance.
If you lose it again,......check into one of the "catastrophic" policies, as mentioned above.
Also have you ever tried Assurant, or Humana, for quotes?
    http://www.assuranthealth.com/corp/ah/
    http://www.humana.com/
I have neither of those, but know some folks that are with both of them. Don't ever think about Mega for insurance IMHO!
    Good Luck.

This topic enrages me. YOU ARE OWED NOTHING!

I am sick of being forced to pay for other peoples mistakes. How another person feels that it is my responibility to pay for their life choice mistakes is beyond me.

I'm thankfull to my parents for the way things happened when I was young, because of them I've learned to have a unwavering rage to succeed and not need anything from anyone. The only person you can depend on in this life fully is yourself.

I have sympothy for some people don't get me wrong, and if I wasn't forced to pay for everyone else that felt the worled owed them a free ride then I would actually be alot more prone to help.

I have not asked for a dime I didn't work for. I've gotten no help (even clothing and food) since I was 14 except sometimes a roof over my head from my mother or father until they kicked me out the next time. I was not content to live like that so I took my future in my own hands and busted my ass and still do bust my ass and make the smartest decisions (with the future in mind also) I could. All without a tit to suck off or any education other then a GED.

When I die I don't expect and don't want sympothy from anyone but my loved ones.

Universal healthcare is socialism and America isn't supposed to be a socialist country.

well said mongrel1776...had health insurance by way of wifes job till she retired then private pay cost was to much...figured we could squeak by for a short time till medicare could help...wrong...now i will have to borrow or sell to get fixed...but could be a lot worse as within last year 3 friends all at 50 years of age have died...have to agree that the money that is wasted would solve a lot of problems but you all know how well most people handle money or resolve issues....just look at disneyland on the potomac...still think that what is happening in the direction this "democracy" is heading will make the med issue look like a $2 problem

I have health care and my dental only covered $1500 of my son's braces which cost almost $5000.

Like Mongrel says, the govt run health care sucks so his mom won't use it. That doesn't mean that they and us can STOP paying for it.

If we continue down this road, we will end up being taxed at 90% and only being able to keep 10%. Then nobody will want to work and we can all go on welfare for about a week until the system crashes. It would then be a war with every man for himself and without health care or anything else.

Maybe I'd better go get some more ammo....

Quite right. That is how "the system" works. A new "system" will be no better...because it's from the government.

Now, let's get something straight here folks. More entitlements are WHAT'S WRONG!!!!! If we the people eliminated all these entitlment programs, the money saved on your taxes would pay for insurance, or anything else you want to spend it on.

Now, with that being said, how do we help those that really need it? It sure hasn't worked leaving it to the government to handle it. It is sooooo abused by the undeserving, many who who do need/deserve it to give a temporary boost, don't get it. Another even bigger government buraucracy is NOT the answer, especially at the federal level where there is never any oversight. Maybe at the state level, ONLY, this could be better achieved. But states are so lazy they always hand over power/authority to the feds to avoid the responsibility.
