.460 S&W 2.75" barrel...people don't venture into grizzly country without a gun. Between the grizzlies, black bears, mountain lions, wolves, moose, etc, it would be very unwise to venture into the wilderness without a firearm...and yes, it's legal. Heck, I live in town and I have an apple tree in a small field just behind my house...there's bear scat all around that tree...in town. We have LOTS of bears.

Words cannot express how BLESSED you are, young man. I'm happy for you and still a bit jealous. Maybe one day, you can manage to drag me over that trail on some sort of a skid 'cause there ain't no way I'm hiking it in MY condition. Continue to enjoy your sacred spot and think of us meager flat-landers only when you have to do so.[^][:p]

Not far from it...this is actually Lake Pend Oreille. Preist Lake is NW of here...or maybe just west...I'd have to look on the map. How do you know the area?[:)]

I was intested in that, says you do gun sales and are a contractor,
Two people I'll be looking for when I get there, all in one.
Lived here in ketchum id for 35 years. Time for me to move north.
Hopeing I can find a good ffl up there, and line one some good houses and propery for sale in that area, well, in about a 50 mile radius of sand point. Seriously considering prist lake area and the clarks fork area, any info would be well apriciated.
    thanks DB

Hey Martin...let me assure you...hiking these mountains never gets easy. One would think that you'd get into shape where you could just keep going right on up the mountain...that is NOT the case. You can make it 20-30 yards at a time and then you have to stop and breath and your legs are burning. As you get into better shape, the only real difference that you notice is that your recovery time gets shorter...it take less and less time to catch your breath and get going again.

It is God's country though...and I am blessed to live here.[:)]

We've got a very nice home for sale right now if you are interested. It has a lot of upgraded features...1800 sq ft plus 2 car garage. 1.3 acres...wooded lot. $299,000. Shoot me an email if you have any specific questions about the area.

Great photos! That is some beautiful country.
I used to live near there. I lived north of Newport Washington.
We used to go swimming in the Pend Orielle River all the time. We crossed into Idaho quite often to play softball games etc.
The mountains where you are hunting are much higher than the ones I lived among over in Washington.
    Good luck with the hunt!

Skin it, quarter it, and pack it out on packs...on your back...a couple trips up and down the mountain...a WHOLE LOT of work.[^]
