People ignorant of CCW law change.question
I don't know if it is because I am a firearms instructor here in Ohio or because I am more concerned about our CCW laws than most but, We have a new CCW law that goes into effect in 8 more days and one major change is that it affects how you may carry in a motor vehicle. If you carry in accordance to the previous law after the 14th of March, You will most likely end up going to jail! I have been contacting students that went through my class to remind them about the change and it surprises me over the large amount of them that have no clue as to the change that is coming shortly. It is everyones individual important responsibility to keep themselves informed to the law and it buggs me the amount that get a CCW and not be concerned about it any more after that. Maybe this shows that Ohio is dropping the ball about getting the word out! I don't know what the reason is. My Question is: Do you keep yourself updated with this kind of thing or are you like the large amount of people that I have been running into and not seem to be informed? Is this common for people that worked so hard to get a CCW law passed and then forget about it? We have some very good changes coming to our law but if you have no clue, You can end up in hot water. What are your thoughts?

Unlike a drivers license you have a right to own,( not carry a gun),If you decide to carry a gun that no one can see, you have to obey the current laws. If you want to carry a gun on your person then you have to go along with your states currents laws. Its up to you to know the current laws on ccw.Its the states responsiblity to post the new laws.I myself would like the idea that anyone could carry a gun , seen or unseen, as long as the person carrying was not a felon. If your stopped by a cop, and are carrying a weapon, then tell them you have a weapon. Is it so hard to keep the cop informed? 0 -
I live in Virginia and hold a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit and a Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License. I keep up pretty well on the applicable laws of those two states or any states I plan to travel to or through, but not on a daily basis. I have a mild passing interest in what is going on in Ohio, but no where near enough to "look it up". 0 -

Very well said. To do otherwise is nothing more than setting a trap for an honest, unsuspecting citizen. Something the politicians are happy to do when it comes to guns. But they usually don't pull the same type of crap with other laws.0 -

Probably true but still some citizens may spend some time behind bars and thousands of dollars on lawyers until everyone gets on the same page. Of course that only hurts a few indivdual citizens so the police, judges and prosecutors aren't worried.0 -

I agree. Seems like a lot of those laws are designed to intentionally trap.0
