I would think that any member of this forum would know exactly what it means.
I'm a proud Army vet, with 4 Military Sons and I think it is important for all of us to keep the deadly mistakes our government makes on its' Citizens, at the forefront of our minds.
We need to call these people to account.

Not trying to start a "big deal",....but I find many differences between Ruby Ridge, and the "wacko" in Waco. He was molesting underage girls for Gods sake,........you think that freedom of religion entitles one to do things like that? I was sorry for the innocent "cult dolts" that were killed, but not for the sicko that thought he was God's right hand. At the time of the Waco hearings a freshman congressman from Indiana, perhaps Dan Burton (?) said some to this effect, "The only thing we had against the guy was consentual sex with a minor. Heck, we don't send tanks into Kentucky or Tennessee."
Naturally he was upbraded by the representatives from those two fine States and did apologize.
The Waco sheriff stated that "I could have served that warrant on Vernon any time, peacefully." (or words to that effect) Waco is just as tragic or more so than Ruby Ridge. They didn't send in bulldozers the next day without some reason.0 -

I agree with you Henry even though I was never in the military.
What's even more shameful about Ruby Ridge is how the FBI altered the crime scene but got caught doing it. That tells me they knew they messed up and then tried to cover up their tracks. All of that came out in the trial even though no one in the FBI was ever held accountable for their actions. While Randy Weaver was no angel he didn't deserve what happened. Thank goodness for his attorney, Gerry Spence if I remember correctly.0 -

There is a big difference between Waco & Ruby Ridge.
Since when dose the ATF investigate sexual offenses? Any crime committed in Waco was still the State of Texas, or at least in the purview of the county Sheriff's department.
At Ruby Ridge Randy Weaver (a former Green beret) was set up by the Feds to try and use him as a way to get information on a local White Supremacist Group. Randy wouldn't play their game so they set him up with cutting off a shotgun barrel of a gun he was selling to a snitch. The snitch wouldn't buy it unless Randy cut it down below 18" like the ATF instructed him to tell Randy to do. Randy was charged, and failed to reappear in Court. If he had only gone back to court the Judge would have tossed the entire case. Because he didn't, a warrant for his arrest was issued, and his son got killed when the Marshals tried to serve it. His wife was killed a few days later by a FBI sniper.
This is why we should remember it.

I second the opinion on the border being my biggest concern. We will just have to agree, to disagree on the Waco thing. Maybe things should have been done differently, but the guy was a freaking perv, and a religious "weirdo", and I stand by my comment that all of those cultists would have died as a result of his actions at some point,..........the moron thought he was God. And yes, if you are wondering,........I am a Christian, but not that type of Christian, and I don't believe from my reading of the Bible, that what that KOOK was doing was anything that made God happy. I don't think anyone here would say that David Korish (Spelling?) was in his right mind. He wasn't, but the ATF over stepped their authority, and literally used a tank to squash an ant.[:(!]
The ATF fulfilled David's prophecy, and in doing so sent shivers up the spines of anyone who owned guns. It could have been any of us for various reasons. It also woke up another flake named Timothy McVeigh who took action to retaliate against the Government.[V]

I am talking about a person leading a cult of weirdos, that arranged underage marriages, and the molestation of children. I view this just like I view some of the out there Mormon's that believe they can have 15 wives, and they can be 12 years old. I am not missing the point,........I get THAT point and agree that there was an overreaction. Think I said before that it could have been handled differently.
It is just the "norm" when people discuss these types of things, that there are vast disagreements. I am a life long Republican, that is disgusted beyond belief with what Bush has done about the "illegal invasion" of our country. Why is there not more discourse on this, instead of worn out news, and the "conspiracy" theories? How many of you that live your lives worrying about Ruby Ridge, and Waco, that are long past, have had your homes invaded by the ATF? Maybe being a radical white supremacist, and leading a "cult" that was abusing children had something to do with these particular incidents. I have many firearms, and have never heard the "black choppers" flying over my house,.............could that be because I am not a person that breaks any laws? I would assume I am just lucky![8D] Move on with life, and concentrate on the real issue that will DESTROY this country. Also how many here believe that the World Trade Center was brought down by this government,.........that will prove my point! Have you also been abducted by aliens for medical experimentation recently?[;)]

Black helicopters aren't the only things you are failing to see.

Marc...have to agree with a few others here on the F'Up at Waco. While Koresh needed to be taken down, the ATF overstepped itself by trumping up firearms charges against him to allow them to take him in.
Koresh was known to go into town quite frequently. All the ATF had to do was place two agents in town and wait...then simply arrest him in public. IF he were to have pulled a weapon, only he would have died at that point.
Instead...they spent more money and time than I can probably guess to carry out a botched raid on a compound they KNEW (or should have known) had numerous firearms and children inside. It is common knowledge through the FOIA that they had an undercover agent go in and out of the compound on numerous occassions. Their staged raid was put on as a show of force to threaten anyone who had ideas of taking a stand against the ATF and Janet Renos plans.
I work for the government and I dont trust them any farther than I can throw them. And no...I dont see black choppers or unmarked vans everywhere I look. But I do not put ANYTHING above my government. They have forgotten that they serve US...not that we are their servants.
