What is your thermostat set at?
With the ever increasing cost of fuel oil and the ever decreasing rate of my income, my thermostat is set at 55 and may go down to 50 if need be.
What do you set your thermostat at? Have you put it lower this year due to rising oil costs?

Told Sandy the same thing, and she said she wasn't wearing a sweater, it was my job to keep the bills paid and the heat on.[V]
I love that woman![^]0 -
68. Wife sleeps under a stack of blankets, I sleep on top.[:D] Works as birth control too.[V] 0 -
Heat??? You guys have to heat your homes??? Wow, that is really interesting. I sleep with the window open and a fan on, if it gets cold I might shut the window. I do let the AC come on at 85 though. 0 -

Thanks a lot. Now I have to take my keyboard apart and clean out the sticky pop that just come flying out of my nose. Boy does that burn[:D].
BTW, I'm not sure what the manager keeps our basic heat at in our apartment, but we also have electric heat(controlled in each room) which is really nice.

Between 72 and 74 degrees.
Right now it is at 73. It gets down into the 20's sometimes at night now but it is currently about 41 degrees outside.
When it gets colder, I usually have to up it a degree or 2 unless I fire up the fireplace insert. Our bedrooms are a few degrees cooler because of the way my house is laid out (and because I drywalled the basement and covered up the duct controls). I know where the are if I have to open it up but I prefer not to. We like it a few degree cooler in the bedrooms anyway and just toss on extra blankets if needed. We all like it a little cooler when sleeping.
My wife messes with the thermostat a lot more than I do-I have a wider temperature comfort zone than she does.
BUT, I want my family to be comfortable! I didn't work hard my whole life so my family could lay shivering in the cold. But I love my Geo-thermal furnace because it is so much cheaper to run than the more conventional gas (or propane) forced air furnaces commonly used around here.
A friend built his house around a centrally located wood-burning stove/fireplace and he almost never uses his furnace. But if the fire burns down, his furnace will kick in and warm up the house, saving him from the freezing walk to the woodstove. A smart man indeed!0 -
When we do use heat, we use natural gas and set the thermostat on 76.
what??nunn it is set at 72-74,,and at night i turn it off and open the window when it is cool outside, plus I have a fan on and the ceiling fan.
That is why when the baby is here he sleeps in thermal pj's plus he doesnt like covers on him either, kind of strange for a january baby not to like blankets.0 -
Hey, you're up! Good morning! 0 -

set at 71-72,
lucky for me gas is included in my rent, all I pay for is the electricity to run the blower [:D]
Parents have their set at 71-72 also, but they have one of those newfangled 94% efficient furnaces0 -
For heating, the thermostat brings the household temperature up to 70 degrees by 7am in the morning, then cuts back to 68 degrees at 10am, then brings household temperature up to 70 degrees by 6pm, then cuts back to 58 degrees at 10pm and will stay at 58 degrees until the thermostat brings the household temperature back up to 70 degrees by 7am the following morning. For cooling, the thermostat maintains the household temperature at 76 degrees. The thermostat also maintains the household humidity at no more than 45% for both heating and cooling. The thermostat is usually set to auto so it can activate heating or cooling as needed. 0 -
My wife and I always fight over the heat, she likes is hot and I like it warm. I have a programmable therm and it's 70 when we get up in the morning, and 72 when we get home from work. When we're sleeping it's at 67 degrees. 0 -
