Ever have a gun left on your porch?
A firearm on the way to me is inadvertently being shipped to the store owner's house rather than the store.
I have a bad feeling it will be left on his porch, unattended.

Several years ago I sent a firearm to HK to have an Ambi-safety put on. It was to be shipped back, signature required etc.....Came home from work around five in the evening and on my front porch was a box easily seen from the street.
On the box in two inch high red letters was the word "FIREARM"
To top it off it had been raining off and on. It was pouring when I arrived.
UPS guy just left it there a couple hours earlier, The signature required card was still stuck to the box....0 -

Not with a firearm,......but where I am located, UPS doesn't even ring the doorbell. Not even when I am sitting here!
I hear the truck roar down the road, and before I can get outside, he is halfway down the street.

I was doing a transfer for a fellow and the shipper put the buyer's name on the outsider of the box along with my shop name and address. It was delivered directly to the buyer, instead of my shop. Fortunately, the buyer was honest. He brought in the gun, did the paperwork and paid me. 0 -
Yes. I sent a Colt to the factory for repair. It was left by my door even though 1) I was home and awake at the time of delivery and 2) the box was covered in 'Adult Signature Required' stickers. UPS has a habit of dropping packages without even bothering to ring the doorbell. 0 -
Yeah, but it's no big deal here. Middle of the woods, and end of the
road. If we're not home and it's raining they just set it inside

UPS left a whole complete computer system on our front porch. Was going to be dropped off next door according to the note the UPS driver left... but they were not home so please make sure they get it from UPS.. A Teacher friend of the Wifes visits after school and I show her the boxed up computer. It has her addy on it and she lives clear across town. 0 -
I have had 2 different computers delivered here, like I described earlier.
It worked out,........but not to hard to see the huge DELL logos on the boxes.
I guess the problem would be UPS's, and Dell's, if something had happened.0 -

I wouldn't bet on that!! They delivered an insured/damaged
knife grinder, and didn't pay...even though the ups driver could
testify it was damaged when delivered.0 -

...yep, and UPS is the worlds worst! You can be at home 2' from the door, "adult sig required" on it...and they will chunk that sucker on the porch and run back to the truck! I caught one doing that and chewed his butt out for doing it...had to run to catch the fool...[^]
...They run on some unatural time schedual and cut every corner, break rules, all for the the sake of keeping "on time"...[^]

Every time FEDEX delivers a gun here. I've seen the driver get within three feet of the steps and throw the package toward the steps. UPS is great service here. If I'm not home driver will take the package to my wife at work and lock in the trunk of the car for her. 0 -

You've got to be joking? Are you people making calls and tearing it butts for this crap? Fedex and UPS are about the same here they just leave it on the step and walk off without ringing a doorbell or anything, but I would be driving down to their hub and tearing into someone if they left a signature required box on my damn step.0 -

Someone left me a Steyr AUG with a case of ammo in prepacked magazines.
Complete with all accessories.

Yes I did let UPS know how I felt in no uncertain terms. This was not the first problem I had experienced with this driver. In another situation I had ordered 5000 rounds of ammo for a couple buddies and myself. The UPS driver also left those on the porch.
On the five box in big red letters...."SMALL ARMS AMMUNITION"
Not really sure what happened to the driver after I wrote a letter to UPS, but he was not on my route after that.0 -
never had these problems with ups, then again my ups guy has been doing my route for so long and well he's on my x-mas card list. 0 -
If I was expecting a delivery when I had my day job, I could leave my garage door open a crack and the UPS driver would sign for my packages and slide the gun out of reach from the door. Worked out good for me. 0 -
My UPS guy at the store is the VERY BEST EVER!!! He is kind, doesn't mind delivering a package two or three times if we tell him we don't know what something is....and we need to make some calls to figure things out before we accept a package. He doesn't mind waiting until one of us is free to take his items in. He comes back afterwards and shops in our store. I like our guy! 0 -
i had one left beside the house. it was shipped in a gun case and was suppose to be signed for. anyway sorry about having to ship it to his house but the ups here wouldn't even ship it until i showed them the address on the ffl copy you sent me. they told me i could only ship it to the address on the ffl. which i don't know why it would be his house and not the store. hope it shows up OK. it was insured. 0 -
I love how running a gun store gets so convoluted by the mess everyone THINKS is best....we have the ATF and the mountain of papers...the state laws which make NO sence whatsoever at times (I can sell any 18 yr old ANY rifle they want...but I cannot sell a BB gun to anyone becasue I am in the city limits)....then you have the police policies where nobody at all knows what the rules are (try dealing with a reclaimed gun when the person gets a denied 4473)...then you have the shipping people trying to tell US how to deal with a firearm related package.....like my butt isn't in a sling already! 0 -

The "mailing address" is different from the "premises address" - I cannot recall ever having seen this on any FFL that I have shipped to.0 -
UPS left a Martin Guitar on my porch. IN THE RAIN!
Of course they had no idea what was in the large package. And luckily the guitar was also in a case which protected it. But I was PO'D!0 -
Same story as everbody else.
I sent a pistol back to Taurus for repair, UPS left it on my front porch when it was returned.
It had all the Adult Signature Required labels on it too.0
