A 103 yard shot at a 180 lb. spike, with 12 ga. 870, 3" 000. 0 -
Shot the bottom out of a Budweiser bottle layed flat with a .22 rifle fired from the hip at 75 feet. 0 -
Shot a dove out of the air with a Smith K-38 revolver years ago up near Crowley lake. 0 -
Forked horn approximately 150 yards bouncing quartering away. It was the best/worst shot I've taken. Now I know that is a very bad shot and I shouldn't of taken it, but at the time I was 13 and didn't have any adult there to tell me better. 0 -

Shot a 10 point at a full run 165 paces away with a 30-30. Bullet went through the bone in his tail breaking it and hitting him in the back of the neck. 0 -
It was doe day and I worked night shift the night before. Place where I wanted to hunt was crowded so I went further up the road. Walked up a steep bank and jumped about 8 does. They ran up the mountain, but one stopped at about 125 yards and looked back. Breathing hard and no tree to rest against, I threw the .270 up, got her in the crosshairs, and fired. Walked up the mountain and found her dead in her tracks, with a bullet hole between her eyes. Couldn't do it again in a 1000 tries. I know, I shouldn't have taken the shot. I have never before or since taken such a risky shot. 0 -
Pistol two weeks ago. Shot Nine rounds with 5 shots in each round. Averaged 1.68" groups with a scoped .44 at 50 yards off handed. I have never did that good in my life shooting the wheel gun off handed at any range.
Rifle. Took a turkeys head off at around 250 yds with a 308 about four years ago.0 -
Absolute pure luck.
September 4th, this year.
Dropped three doves stone dead with one shot.
One of the guys with me said he would never verify the story unless I strung the tale out and told people how I had waited and held my shot until the birds lined up just right.
He said if you're going to do something like that, you might as well make the story good.0 -
me and the guys was coon hunting one night with spot light....we was stopped messing around....one of them threw a schnapps (sp) in the air shining the spot light up at while he threw it and i shot it out of the air with my 45 on second try[:D] 0 -
Tracking a wounded deer with a friend. I literally walked into the deer while it was bed down in a bush. The deer jumped up to run off, and I (while crapping my pants) thumbed the hammer and aimed my Win 94 and shot the deer straight through the heart while it was quartering away. The deer dropped like a ton of bricks, and my friend asked in amazement, "how did you pull that shot off?" I honestly couldn't reply, it all happened so fast it was like a blur. 0 -
Dove hunting. A bunch highballed over the (dry) irrigation canal I was hiding in. By the time I'd gotten the shotgun up, started leading, and pulled the trigger, they were not only overhead, but actually somewhat behind me. Again, as someone else here said, I'd never take a shot like that now, and I wouldn't have then, except, one, it happened too fast to not shoot, and, two, I was about twelve. That was back in those wonderful days when my body worked faster than my brain, instead of sitting down when I have an idea to do something and saying, "You go on, I'll catch up," or just plain, "Forget it, we're too derned old for this."

I was a range officer last summer on a rifle COF. The nearest target was a 12" flasher at 90 yards. My brother's friend thought he could hit it with his 1911. After a bit of talking he pulls it out and shoots eight shots at it with one hitting it. He kept asking me if I could do with my 1911. Again, after awhile of talking I finally caved in and told him that I would try. I hit six out of the eight. 0 -

Running prairie dog at 200 yards with .22 K-Hornet. I intended to shoot ahead of him to make him stop. Instead he flipped over graveyard dead. Told my shooting partner that I was going to stop shooting stationary p-dogs. Really chapped him[:)][:)][:)] 0 -
Took a sparrows head clean off in flight with a Rem. model 549 bolt action .22.Would never be able to pull that one off again. 0 -

When I was 19, I did a guy in Laos with a rifle shot at a thousand yards in high wind. Maybe eight or even ten guys in the world could have made that shot. It's the only thing I was ever good at... 0 -

Back in high school, me and a friend were spotlighting rabbits. 1950 something J.C. Higgins (Sears) .22 semiauto rifle w/open sights. Caught the bunny's eyeball in the light, popped the shot, picked him up. Shot went thru the eyeball and out the other. 50 yard shot at night, open sights and about a two centimeter target.

close to 200 yards, open sights , ruger 44 sbhk 7.5" hot handloads 240gr lead g/c keiths , [used them sillouette shooting] to anchor a large black bear in northern maine, it went no more then 25 yds. but did need a finishing shot. don't think i would ever try that long a shot again, with a handgun. i was much younger then , close to thirty years ago. I shot a squirrell off hand with a .243 at 120 yards. I missed the first shot, he "prarie dogged", and the second shot went right through his noggin.
I also hit a paint can with a 4in 1911, at just over 100 yards with plenty of witnesses that were giving me plenty of crap for even attempting the shot.<<<that was my favorite.

Hunting pheasants alone I was in a wooded area. A bird took off at my feet in the exact opposite direction. I spun and while falling backward shoot and it dropped. I could find only one pellet in it and that was in it's head. 0 -
mossberg 835 #6 shot 80 steps. saw one turkey in tall grass, took aim , shot, the sky was black with turkeys. when i walked down there was three turkeys laying there 0
