How often do you Shoot??
As i cruise the forums reading the topics and postings of other GB members I often wonder just how often do GB people really shoot. There is alot of talk about shooting. but do we shoot as much as we talk?
I shoot 2-4 times a week every week.
Wedensday night I shoot trap 2-4 sometimes 6 rounds of 25
Friday Night I shoot Bullseye. 90 rnds of either 22lr or centerfire
pistol 380 or bigger.
Saturday and Sunday Mornings the club offers skeet,
I ussually shoot one if not both days min. of 2rnds if not 4 rounds per day.
All in all i prolly average 300 rnds a week. 1200 rounds a month

You got me beat!
I try to go at least once a week.
In the fall and winter, I go two to three times a week.[;)]0 -
economics has put a damper on my once every day shooting life. i use to shoot so much i got sick of shooting.
now its every 3 months.0 -
Not near as much as I'd like to. [:(] 0 -
Due to my work schedule I haven't been shooting in 4 months, I work every day. I even have an indoor range at work, but there is no time to use it. But I do play with guns all day everyday, thats what happens when you run a Fine Gun Room. If I get bored during the day I'll just reach into a cabnet and grab a nice side by side to carry around for a few hours, last night it was a Merkle 47B, Friday night was a Garbi 100. Tonight, who knows, maybe a Bertuzzi Orion or a Rizzini R-1.....
You know working in a gun shop has it's disadvantages, it's like being a potographer for supermodles, yes you get to look at them and sometims pose with them, but you never get to use them the way you really want.0 -
We try to get out to the farm twice a month. Usually spend some of the time bush hogging and planting or maintaing food plots. But we have to have fun too! Son loves to shoot. We will go through 500 rounds or so of 22, just plinking. And then my son will practice with his deer rifle, usually 50-100 rounds a weekend. As I said in another post, we have gone through over 1000 rounds of 243 and 7mm-08 since last summer. Occasionally I will set up the trap thrower and shoot those. Son isn't into bird hunting yet, so that is kind of on the back burner. I hope to change that this fall though! 0 -
Twice a month if I'm lucky.
Shot much more BC. (before children)0 -
Economics is the key... even with a 22, a brick is $10, plus gas to/from range (90 miles total).
On top of that, I tend to take a day off work to go to the range... I have lots of time saved, I work in education so the stress, etc. isn't there, so I just take a day or afternoon and head up. Weekends are for spending time with my 2 kids, etc. although the oldest is range-ready, the youngest isn't quite yet...
When I do get out, its usually half or a whole brick of 22, then at least 2 mags from the FAL, one from the AK, a box or two of 22mag, plus 50-100 of 357 plus another 50-100 of 45...0 -
Every Sunday my son and I shoot trap 3 rounds each on occasion 4 rounds.
From Mon. to Sat. we go 2 to 3 times and shoot 22's, AK's, Mosin Nagant's,AR, Muzzle Loader and pistols(22,9mm and .45). And I try not to think about how much ammo we go through, but its a lot.0 -

I'm sorry- I just am unable to understand this answer. The words make sense individually but together somehow they become unintelligible. Are you trying to say that you get.......tired......of..........shooting? [:D] I can't quite comprehend that problem but can certainly grasp the economics of it. [V]
Myself, I try and go once a week, sometimes works out to only once a month in the cold winters.0 -
hope nobody took offense, i didn't want it to seem like it was a contest. I was guaging the crowd just checking to see where i land.
Seems i am a shooting freak, but my wife has told me that for some time now.0 -
I used to be in the at least "once a week" catergory, but lately it's been not very often. Once or twice a month.

I don't shoot nearly as much as I'd like to. The main reason right now is the cost of ammunition. I'm just getting started in learning how to reload but that got put on the back burner for now. I plan to do a lot of reloading this winter. Hopefully I won't be as tight with my ammo in the future. Everytime I pull the trigger on my AR and Cetme all I see is dollar signs going down range. 0 -
I shoot something at least 2 or 3 times a day.
Sometimes while working, sometimes just for fun. I have the second best job in the world.[:p]0 -
[8D]-From May to November, Very seldom, from Nov to April generally twice a week--

Currently, and for past few months, I shoot daily. But it's no particular chore for me, as I have a 100 yd. range with the fifty yard marker sitting just outside my shop door.
My shooting has changed though, with the price of ammo. Instead of .38, .357, and .44mag, I'm shooting lots more .22LR and .22Mag. For target shooting, I shoot only CCI .22LR (the 1640 fps) and CCI .22Mag (the 1875 fps), with a few of the newer 2200 fps thrown in for contrast. The 'Hyper-velocity', 2200 fps appears to be considerably more accurate, but absolutely costs lots more (13 bucks for a box of 50 at Gander Mountain). For plinking I go with whatever brick is handiest and cheapest, with Federal on my bench presently.

3-5 times a week. Range is in the back yard and I reload all of my ammunition. I managed to buy 2,000 small rifle primers before they disappeared. 0 -
Spring, summer and fall, 3-gun (rifle, pistol, shotgun) once or twice a week. Winter, handgun, once every other week.
All the trap/skeet ranges close to me have closed down. [:(]0 -
Once every two or three weeks. Between gas and the rising cost of ammo, its difficult to justify going more frequently. 0 -
Every Tuesday, 100-200 rds of .45.
Once or twice a month, 200-500 rds of .22
Myabe once or twice a year, the wife lets me shoot her .38/.357
Once or twice a year, 50 rds of .44
Once a year, .308, .32 Win Spl, .35 Rem, etc. Maybe a box of 20 each.0 -

Sometimes everyday of the week. I'm a retired teacher but still farm 280 acres and always have a gun near me. When I shoot though, it's mostly clod busting and usually less than 20 rounds a day. BTW I've got a minor in Economics and adjusted for inflation ammo is still cheap - it's just not as cheap as it was 5 years ago but what is. In H-Schoo during the 1960's .22 ammo was 75cents per 50 - it's really about the same now at Walmart... 0 -
3 or 4 times a month 0 -
3 or 4 times a week, but I shoot many diffrent rounds.
In one month I shoot easy,
sometimes 1000 rounds of 223, sometimes 200 rounds, and 100 to 500 rounds of .308
most always 200 to 500 .22s and 200 to 300 .45s
10 to 50 rounds of 416 and 10 to 50 rounds of 50bmg
In the last 5 days ive spent over 300 rounds of 5.7 x 28
and over 500 rounds of .223, and about 100 rounds of .45...
What ever suits my fancy at the moment.
Then there are the countless other rounds of 7.62 x39, a few 8mm, a few 38's and a few 357.
Not to mention shotguns[8D], Not a bird hunter, I like the slugs..
20 to 12 gage. havent shot allot of those lately.[:)]0 -
Average about once a week... 0 -
when i first got my gun at the end of june, i was at the range everyday. just imagine the cost of feeding that monster, now it is 3 times a week(we're on a diet). 0 -

So far this year 29 range trips and 4400 rounds.0 -
3 rounds or so a year on each hunting rifle just to check sighting before the season [V]. 0 -
Lately, I seem to be dribbling more than shooting. Just not the gym rat that I used to be and the younger guys who play never seem to want to pass. 0 -
3 or more times a week for me. 0
