The Pope's opinion and 50 cents will get you a cup of coffee. John 3:16 says otherwise.

You have to give it to the Catholics though, they do have the best darn Pope of all the religions.

Hell of a lot of Cardinals laughing at him. I say he has been in the wine cellar. Not the way I was taught in the Church.

Being wrong is one thing....misleading millions is quite another.

Conveniently, I don't consider the Pope a true christian. Nowhere in my Bible does it suggest I need an intermediary to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

    So we're even.

What a joke! But what can you expect from men who expect to be called "father" when the Bible plainly states "Call no man father but God. (In the spiritual reference) That from an organization that enslaves millions of poor people, intimidating them into paying for their sins with donations of money. Who do you think the Bible is referring to when it describes the ultimate of false religions as:
"The wh_re which sits on 7 hills" (in Rome).

The real Church that Christ is referring to are the true believers who have been born again, collectively, no matter what denomination. Not some gold laden corporation run by men walking around in robes and stupid looking hats!

    The pope is a fraud.

Ironic you would write that. A fraud that worships a superstition that honors a myth.

    True believers believing true lies?
    [;)][:o)]

No harm done I guess. Play nice children.

What makes you an authority on the validity of Christianity?

    SKing,

I'm simply bowled over by how clever your reply is. Which brings up a point I'd also like clarified if it's not too much of an imposition on your infinitely knowledgeability to explain it. Why don't YOU ever practice what you preach?

    As in:
"You can get away with a lot if you keep your mouth shut"

'cause I'm not getting away with anything. Just speaking the pure, unadulterated truth. If I told you tithe all your money to my "church" for HIS glory (and my new Cadillac), then I would be getting away with something, namely taking advantage of the foolish.[:p]

I find it entertaining to read the thoughts of the fundamentalist Christian cultists who pound their Bibles while telling us that anyone elses verion of Christianity is incorrect(they really do remind me of the whacked out Shiite crazies screaming and thumping their Korans). I think we have our own version of Al Quida crazies in any whacked out lunatic Baptist Church right here in our country. You really don't have to go to Iraq to find religious lunatics.....we have them right here quoting their favorite Bible passage in the same way as the Al Quida crazies quote their Korans.

You know the Pope saying his version of religion is better than your version sounds about the same as some lunatic fundamentalist preacher saying his version of Christianity is better than the lunatic fundamentalist Baptist preacher down the street or the lunatic fundamentalist Muslim in his mosque in Iraq. When I have observed those Shiite nutcases pounding their breasts and raising their hands in crazed and frenzied worship I really am reminded of the average Baptist Church on any Sunday in the United States.

So if the Pope wants to say his religion works better who cares? Every true believer whether he is a good Christian, or a whacked out fundaChristacultist or a Muslim or Hindu draws strength and comfort from their beliefs. I'm fairly sure though that not too many fundaChristocultists have spent much time reading the sacred and Holy Koran...otherwise they might be "born again" as Muslims ready to join Al Quida.

I remember a Jewish guy I worked with and he told me that a lot of Jewish people laughed at the "born again" Christians because as Jews their faith in God had never died. Jews took their beliefs from the Bible and its words....they didn't reduce themselves to Jesus cult worship......kinda makes you wonder doesn't it? But for all the fundaChristocultists if it works for you keep at it...just try not to foist your beliefs on some lunatic Muslim...he might kill you.[}:)]Beach

Martin...Yes just a little bit....and you did give me an understanding and tolerance of some people that I previously did not have. I still comment sometimes when I see sanctimonious behavior but I don't do it with the anger that I once had....you played a big role in that...and I thank you. Beach

BINGO And as such the Pope and other Cleric have no authority over followers. They are there for guidance not as rulers, the role they ( the church leadership) have taken on their OWN authority. Much of what the church leadership does is to control the followers not guide them.

If he wants to talk 'defective' ... he should address the little problem
his priests at having in the Los Angeles courts at the moment.

... seems there has been a slight problem with many of the children
of their 'flocks' that appears to go back many, many decades -
    probably back to the beginning.

THAT my friend is 'defective' and it's going to cost The Holy Father and
    his boys a cool billion!
