Cheney Wants To Attack Iran
Apparently there is a fight within the admin right now over attacking Iran. Cheney wants to use pinpoint air strikes against Iran nuclear facilities and also their traning camps inside Iran that are being used to make bombs, re-supply iraqi insurgents and train terrorists. Sources say Bush is against it and Condi is against it. Sources also say that Bush is extremely gun shy now and is afraid to escelate anything either in iraq or elsewhere in the world.

Pre-emptive war, while appealing, will not provide the resolve necessary to finish the job. Look at the Japs in WWII. Would America have the motivation to embark on a brutal island-hopping campaign without Pearl Harbor?0 -

Maybe we should just let the children work it out for themselves. Let all the SOB's have nukes and see which one of them are stupid enough to use in a first strike.
If Israel and the US let them know that a strike by ANY Moslem country will result in retaliation on Syria, Iran, and Lebanon with the intent to kill as many as possible, perhaps the sane Moslems will murder the insane Moslems.
When India and the Pakies each got nukes, I didn't figure it would be long until Bombay or Karachi glassed over. However it seems a new maturity has come over the area. I just know that what we are doing now ain't working.0 -

Had we fought World War II as we have seen fit to "fight" the war on terror, we'd have reacted to the bombing of Pearl Harbor by attacking Brazil, saying that Tojo was seeking to spread Japanese Imperialism to South America in an attempt to cut off the Panama Canal.
After that, we'd have attacked Ireland for not declaring war on Japan.
And all the while we'd be leaving the real aggressors - Japan and Germany - unmolested.

I agree, EXCEPT they won't believe it, and rightly so. Since this mess started the Al-Qaeda leadership has been telling their troops to fight a holding action and bide their time, the United States will weary of war and go home just like they did in Korea and Vietnam. It turns out they were right. What most Americans don't understand is the stakes are a little higher this time.0 -

Your kind of close. We attacked the Japs near the Philippine islands in the battle of the Coral sea. To prevent the Japs from spreading farther in the south pacific. Then started an island hopping campaign north towards Japan. Never set foot on Japanees soil till the end of the war. Meanwhile Hitler/Germany declared war on us. But evidently you cannot comprehend the fact that cowardly acts are not the american way. What about the fact that we supplied Russia and GB with what they needed/through the lend lease act to fight the Nazis. Yes we try peacefull means at first but when that fails......ahhh yes the good old white flag will save lifes.

Actually Iran has attacked America quite a few times. Maybe you remember a few hundred marines being killed in some barraks ? You might recal a little kidnapping and killing of some diplomats ? Or maybe you just might want to think who has had the biggest hand in murdering our troops in Iraq right now ? You could have saved the world a lot of trouble. See, in 1970, Russia was supplying North Vietnam with anti aircraft missles, called SAMs.
Hundreds of U.S. airmen were killed by these missles. If you had been around to advise the President, we would have launched surgical strikes against Russia. Within 24 hours, the world would have ceased to exist.
Or, you could have been an adviser to the Kremlin in 1985. American operatives, who hated Russians and wanted them dead, saw to it that hundreds of shoulder fired U.S. anti aircraft missles were supplied to the fanatical Muslim fighters in Afghanistan. Hundreds of Russian aircraft were destroyed by these missles. You could have advised Russia to make a few surgical strikes against America.0 -
I definatly feel that we need to stop Iran BEFORE they develop anything like nuclear!
There development is probible cause for us to go in as it is in direct violation of nuclear treaties designed by the UN.
That being said, If we do go in we need to kick rearend and take names and not fart around in doing it!

If we were to launch a pre-emptive strike on Iran, the men in power would just bleen it up like they did in Iraq. I have absolutely no faith in those children in Washington. All they are doing is pissing away our sons' and daughters' lives.

I say we lend Israel a couple of stealth bombers for a couple of months. They seem to be the only country with the nads to get the job done.

I get the feeling MOST of you guys have never been to war. It's not like on T.V.
The most hurt are the children, the innocents, and then ourselfs.
Dieing is easy, living with your mistakes is easy if you aren't in the fighting. If we nuke em first before they get the bomb, they will waite a hundrend or more years to get even. Then it will be in a big way. The men at white sands who put this thing together all agreed give it to ALL countries make them equal, All things will equal out in time.
Listening to youth, doves,and war hawks is a waste of time. Look to a older combat vet. That is your best bet for a solution to the problem.0
