I'm thinking of getting a savage in 17hmr and spending the rest on various ammo. walmart has the savage 17hmr for 195.00 what do you all think. keep in mind that the gun doest have to be a 500.00 gun just under that amount if i spend less i will just buy ammo with remainder

Light in the handgun department. Save up another $50-100 and get a Witness in 45 (steel frame, no plastic) and a 22 conversion kit for it.
Or a Ruger MKII and a Rock Island 1911.0 -
A Savage 30-06 with a scope on it.[^] 0 -

YUP,
I'll be spending at least that much, next time I go to the gun store, for ammo.0 -
quote:Heres a switch...go on GB and buy a model 99 savage in either .308 or my personal favorite .300 savage. .243 would be an option also.
You would have the finest lever action rifle ever made...light, portable, quick 2nd shot if you need it...a fine saddle gun. Can use for hunting, plinking,or varmints (two legged or otherwise.).
That is the hole I see you need to fill. My $.02

Okay. I don't see a Lorcin L380, or a Davis, Bryco or Jennings. Cripes, for $500 you could get all of them and then have enough left over for ammo.0 -

Whoa... hold the phone.
I have an EAA Witness 45 Compact. Where does one obtain the 22 conversion kit for it?0 -
save up a few more $$$ and get a sig in .45 0 -
spanielsells - direct from eaa. Or a caliber change to 9, 10, 40, or 45.

I recently had that much and bought a Taurus PT-1911. I have been happy with it. I can't believe that you can get a 1911 with all the goodies it has for the price. 0
