Your next question will be about scopes....
I shy'd away from dropping a couple hundred bucks for a scope to top my $189 Marlin. I bought a Barska Huntmaster Pro 3-12x50 Illuminated reticle scope from Sportsman's guide for $40. Wrapped in Burris Signature rings, I can get consistant nickel or smaller sized groups @ 100yds. It's very bright and it's finish is great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another for a different gun. Right now Sportsmans guide has a 6.5-20x50 scope for the same price.
This is what I bought

I almost bought this...

I'm still thinking about buying the highpower scope to put on it for the 225yd range we have. Honestly, do be fooled by the prices on these scopes. Check one out, you'll be glad you did. I know I am.0 -

Which one did you buy? I absolutely love the 3-12. Let me know what you think, I haven't talked to anyone else who has had any experience with them. 0 -

It's really bright and VERY clear. It's every bit as clear as my Nikon Prostaff. You can see very well in the low light conditions.
We were 125yds out from my buddies dogs who have been getting attacked by Coyotes. It was a 1/2moon and he had a single light on behind his house. The dogs are about 75yds behind the house. You could see everything well.0 -
I had the same 17 cal marlin with the varmint barrel. Damn thing shot 1/4 inch groups all day long at 100 yards in the center of the ten ring. Most accurate gun i have ever had or shot. 0 -
good i was kinda worried about getting it because of the price but now I'm glad i did. 0 -
Ammo was CCI "SPEER TNT" Hollow points. The scope i used was a Bushnell Trophy 4-12AO X 40. I bought the scope used for 40.00. 0 -

They are picky. My Marlin doesn't like the Speer TNT's, but really likes the Winchester or Hornady VMax rounds. They're downright explosive on target.
The 17HMR has to be the most fun for your buck value on the market. And now the price of ammo is starting to come down. Started out at $12/50 I've seen it on sale for 7.99 and 8.99. Sooner or later it should be 1/2 the price is started out at. Varmints beware.0 -
An EOTech holographic sight. 0 -
save a few more penneys and get a THOMPSON 1927 "COMMANDO" TOMMY GUN 0 -
I'd get another Beretta 92FS, so I can have one for each hand. 0 -
I doubt id buy a gun if i had 500 bucks
I might take the remainder of it and buy some ammo for the current guns i own, but i have some projects i wanna get finished first0 -
Glock 26 or 27 depending on weather you prefer a 9mm or .40 0 -
ATN first gen night vision.
Another gun can wait. Able to see in the dark.......enables the remainder of your arsenal to be used more than 12 hours out of the day should they be needed.0 -
Heres a switch...go on GB and buy a model 99 savage in either .308 or my personal favorite .300 savage. .243 would be an option also.
You would have the finest lever action rifle ever made...light, portable, quick 2nd shot if you need it...a fine saddle gun. Can use for hunting, plinking,or varmints (two legged or otherwise.).
That is the hole I see you need to fill. My $.02

Having always regretted the sale of my Security Six, I'd probably replace it and get some nice leather to go with it.
Second on the list would be an SKS and a butt-load of ammo.
Third would be a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem.
Man, the list just goes on...0 -
