All Hell may break loose.

Three weeks ago yesterday my wife went in to a Dr.'s office for a biopsy to determine cancer. Dr. left and said she would be back from vacation after Labor Day results would be back sooner. I called one week later ( Dr. was on vacation ) to get the results from them. Of course they would not release that to me !! I was present when they did the biopsy. So I have them call our phone number and leave the results.. Not exactly.. They call and said the Dr. had not signed off on the pathology report and would not give any results. So another week goes by.. NO call from the Dr.s office. So going on the third week my wife calls the office.. and ASKS for them to mail the report. Nurse says no problem.. it will go out tomorrow. That was Tuesday.. today is Friday. Mail takes one day anywhere.. So I just checked the mail, NO report. I am ticked. I have a noon appointment with the wife at school lunchbreak and we are both going to the Dr.'s office. All hell may did break loose.[:(!][:(!]

    Had somewhat of a similiar thing happen....Had a pap smear done...dr. office phoned and asked when I could come in for the results...My heart stopped in that moment....I said, "Just give me the results over the phone"...."cant do that,..has to be in person"....SO I made an app,...ONE WEEK LATER WAS WHEN I COULD GET IN...and all the time I am scared stiff...

    Get to the office, taken in to the cubicle...nurse asst gave me the results...Everything negative...no problems....
    I hit the roof...I told her to get dr..NOW and also the office manager....TOld them exactly what I thought of their policy, and from now on, when I phone or my husband phones we are to be given ALL results by phone IF WE SO CHOOSE IT....There has not been a problem since...

    By the way Gary, get yourself on her list of contacts in the office and she on yours...That way results can be given to either person, not just the patient...

    Glad that the report was good but it sure sounds like that Medical office is playing games. Is that even legal to with hold a health report from the patient??

    One question I would be curious to ask the Dr.... Just how long were you going to go before giving her the results? results were in from the pathogist and signed off by them in 3 days. Report was in your office the 4th day and was scanned in ( according to the report ) We got the results 22 days later at our request. Seems something ethical might be amuck.
