All Hell may break loose.

Three weeks ago yesterday my wife went in to a Dr.'s office for a biopsy to determine cancer. Dr. left and said she would be back from vacation after Labor Day results would be back sooner. I called one week later ( Dr. was on vacation ) to get the results from them. Of course they would not release that to me !! I was present when they did the biopsy. So I have them call our phone number and leave the results.. Not exactly.. They call and said the Dr. had not signed off on the pathology report and would not give any results. So another week goes by.. NO call from the Dr.s office. So going on the third week my wife calls the office.. and ASKS for them to mail the report. Nurse says no problem.. it will go out tomorrow. That was Tuesday.. today is Friday. Mail takes one day anywhere.. So I just checked the mail, NO report. I am ticked. I have a noon appointment with the wife at school lunchbreak and we are both going to the Dr.'s office. All hell may did break loose.[:(!][:(!]

    That sukz making someone wait three weeks to get your results. That's seems like a life time to wait when your talking about cancer. [xx(][:(!]

    been thru this CRAP with a dr....went on for 4 months...GOT A NEW DOCTOR...you alone are responsible for the quality of your health care, their responsibility is to be sure the billing is current....

    I certainly hope and pray everything is ok. Maybe thats why their being so lax about giving out the results. Please keep us up to date.

    And I hope something awful happens to your so-called doctor on his damned vacation.[:(!]

    Doctors like that anger me no end - they're in it for the money and prestige and couldn't care less about the profession.

    They did me the same way on my first cancer. I didn't sleep for three days after the doctor told me he would let me know the next day and I never heard from him. When I finally called him on his cell phone (he is a family friend and I don't know what other patients who don't have access to his personal phone do) he was so apologetic and said, and I believe him, that he had left direct orders to call me with the results, and the office people had dropped the ball.

    I think good help in a doctors office is hard to find.

    Picked wife up and went to the Dr.'s office unannounced. I held my composure for about 2 min. Nurse got in my wifes face and said they couldn't do the pathologist report just yet. I spoke up and said it had been 3 weeks and one day... and it is now missing.? Then I blew up and got in their face.. Ask the wife for the cell phone to call the Police. I would need a Police report on this. All of a sudden they seen the light.. The report magically appeared in a file and was handed to the wife. I raised such a stink two possible patients rode down the elevator with us. They had appointments and just friggin left. Both said they were not happy overhearing the conversation about how long they took for the report. BTW the report came back negative.

    Now you might need to have your BP checked. [:D] Sounds like a happy ending. Send them a bill for your time.

    They think that if results are "negative", that there is no rush whatsoever.
    Of course, they don't realize the mental anguish that the patient, and family is going through.
    I would find another doctor, as I am sure you will!

    Drs. office left a message for my wife to call, after a mammogram. She called, told the ditz that answered the phone who she was and what she called for. The ditz said "Oh, your the lady with CANCER"! Dr. wasn't in. He called that afternoon, after my wife explained what happened, he appologized profusely (sp?). I wanted to go up there, but she wouldn't let me out the door.
    This October, will be 10 years cancer free.

    I guess the most important thing is that your wife is healthy!

    Sorry about your experience with the doctor. Find a new doctor.
