Mars has no internal combustion engines or Ford Excursions on it, but it's heating up?

    Yes

According to NASA scientists, its due to changes in weather patterns.

    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/04/070404-mars-warming.html

"Temperatures on Mars have increased slightly over a 20-year period due to the action of Martian winds, scientists have found.

New research has shown that dusty tornadoes called dust devils and gusty winds have helped the surface of Mars become darker, allowing it to absorb more of the sun's rays. "

in the next so-many years some other scientists will find that increased winds are caused by global warming and so on. I am sure some already have but it's not in the interest of supporters of GB GW(tm) theory to make the knowledge public.

    edit: whoops!

Al Gore is just another sniveling politician....He uses the debate for his own ends, not because he actually cares.

For every lie that comes out of Al Gore's trap, there are several spit out by the other side. For whatever reason, people around here think that blogs are a good place to find scientific info.

That being said.....the facts are disturbing

    20060313_greenland.jpg

Whether or not we're causing it or if there is anything we can do to stop it is up for debate.

My opinion is that we are causing it....but at this point I don't think there is anything that can (reasonably) be done to stop it.

Look at the bright side....if sea levels rise, at least we'll finally be rid of New Orleans

don't throw in facts it just confuses them, al gore said it is true, so it has to be a lie right?

funny this is the only place i have seen that says the scientific community says it is a farce, last winter several members made fun of global warming because they got cold, i find it amusing that where ever people are located they feel is the center of the universe, yes just a percent of a degree each year is important to the entire earth {outside of gb}, i guess we will know who is telling the truth over time, i honestly think that if some members took more time outside of their own world, and learned what the real scientist are saying about the cause and effects of it you would change your mind

To fully understand global warming you need to look at the people who follow it....

[:0] WOW! That puts a lot of it into perspective. I do have another question for you. In the video, Gore shows pictures of numerous mountains and glaciers that have lost most of their snow/ice. Is that something that they make up too? If not, what's causing that?

Seasons. They take photos from different times of the year to support their idiotology...

    Don't buy it.
Exactly what season is a GLACIER made

I never thought of that, now that you mention it, they didn't have dates on the photos. Not that the dates would have been accurate anyway.

I noticed on the Drudge Report this very evening, that some part of Canada has now passed a 'carbon tax'....

But that carbon tax idea may not migrate south so quickly. Shucks, we might even have a year or two before we start paying to fix something that probably isn't even broken.

But just think how quickly we'd end up with the tax if it had started in California? Makes shivers run up and down my spine.

Super-Self-Centered ideas that simply go to illustrate man's total arrogance with everything he relates to have been around for centuries, maybe thousands of years. Remember the old "The earth is the center of the universe" idea, and the problems it fostered?

Now, we're in the same boat, but with the incredibly arrogant idea that we're so doggoned powerful we can destroy the planet. At best, and given some really powerful means we currently probably don't even possess, we might destroy some major portions of human life, or more likely human culture ON the planet.

If that's arrogant, how about the idea we can control the weather, other nations, industry, volcanoes, and the third world, ad infinitum, ad nauseum, to the point we can FIX what it is about the world we're not powerful enough to ruin anyway?

Boggles the mind of a thinking man....

I've got an inconvenient truth for Al Gore ---- I worked for him for 8 years while he was Vice President of the US. If there was EVER an opportunity for anyone to do something about global warming, it was then. He was assigned to run the executive branch by Bill Clinton; his specific assignment: "Reinvent Government". What an opportunity!

What did he do during those 8 years? For starters, he reduced the size of the federal work force by 10%. This meant that many federal workers were forced to work harder, as jobs in their offices went vacant. And then, they wasted a lot of time trying to protect their OWN jobs to keep from being fired or forced into retirement.

Then, he eliminated most 1st line supervisory positions in the federal government. This meant that in many areas, former supervisors became "team leaders", unable to discipline or direct their former employees. The new "supervisors" were often overwhelmed by the large number of workers they now had to directly supervise.

Finally, he ordered all agency heads to hire (& promote to executive level) as many Hispanics, Asian Americans, & disabled employees as they possibly could, without regard for whether they were even qualified to do the job. His reason for doing this became clear when he ran for President; in many campaign speeches, he bragged, "I have given you a government that LOOKS LIKE YOU."

So, 8 years were wasted, without correcting fraud, abuse, or anything else, including global warming.
