It looks like the snow has probably set in for the year...it'll probably be next July before we see the groung on this mountain. This is the mountain across the street from my house...taken from our front porch:

I cant believe the weather here its Oct. and its 80 Degree's in Southwest Va. Deer Season with a Bow opens tomorrow, when I was a boy it got cold in September and stayed that way until April? 0 -

Down here in the valley it's not bad. Highs of upper 40's/lower 50's and lows at night of lower 30's. Up on that mountain, it's a different story...there'll be 20+ feet of snow up there by the end of the winter.0 -
Great pic Eric!! 0 -

ECC, your wife take a mighty fine picture! WHERE DO YOU LIVE?!?! I want to live there!!! I'm stuck in the middle of Desert, Nebraska, wanting desperately some snow, or at the very least some fall weather. Today's supposed to be 86 and tomorrow 80. [V] 0 -

The weather here is actually extremely mild. It was colder/nastier in Northern VA than it is here...primarily b/c of the humidity. We are in a little pocket where the air currents off the Pacific Ocean keeps our temperatures pretty mild. I'm in Northern Idaho, right on Lake Pend Oreille...Clark Fork is the name of the town. Here is a link to the averages here:
http://weather.msn.com/monthly_averages.aspx?wealocations=wc:USID0042
...but like I said before, the temps feel warmer here in the winter and cooler in the summer due to the low humidity levels.0 -
For all you folks who want to move out this way, we have a house for sale.[:p][;)][:)] 0 -
Thanks for the link Eric,.......I sure understand about humidity levels, and how it makes the same temp feel totally different.
Lots of folks from South Florida moving up this way, and they are shocked after their first winter!
I have been on a roof in Gainesville, just a bit north of here in February, and we had 5 below zero wind chill warnings.
In Florida when it DOES get cold, it FEELS cold, because of the higher humidity. Nothing like a wet feeling to let cold soak into the bones.
We get the 20's, and even the occasional "teens" readings here, a few times per winter, but the above makes it feel much colder.
I like colder weather,..........to a point![8D]
I am getting to really despise the heat from June, to September, or October here. The humidity makes it miserable![xx(]
Also I am getting back into the "open land" feeling again,........everything is getting too close here, and the people are becoming more obnoxious by the day.0 -

1800 with a 2 car garage, 12'X22' covered cedar porch, cathedral ceilings throughout, H'dwood floors, tile in kitchen and baths, stone fireplace, custom built hickory cabinets throughout, stain grade trim throughout...solid wood interior doors, etc, etc. 3 br/2ba
$299,000.0 -
I was just curious!
If you have a pic or two, feel free to e-mail them.
A bit less SF than I am interested in, and also the property size, is right at what I have here!![;)]
More interested in around 10 to 20 acres, and about 2100 SF living space.
I am in 2875 living space right now, 3100, with porches or "patios", and would like to cut back a bit, but probably not that much.
The biggest thing is the lot size for me,........if it was on 20 acres of beautiful land, I could live with less square footage.[:D]
What is the going rate around those parts, for a nice 10 to 20 acre piece of land?0 -

I'd have to do some checking on the land...but if you buy it, I can build you whatever you want.[;)][:)]0
