I feel for you. Retire when you can. Then try something else for a while.

That is one of the main reasons, I heven't got a part-time LE job since I retired. I had enough of that kind of stuff the first time around and I didn't even see as much of it as many others had to endure.

I really planned to be doing some part-time LE work by this time but I sure don't miss stuff like that or being jerked around with court dates and the like.

I took some classes and became a drivers training instructor this summer. I had a job lined up that sounded like it would be a good way to make a few extra $$$ and try to teach some kids something that might help them in the real world.

Some people commented- "Wow! Out of the pot and into the fire" But after having several people close to me, lose a kid to a car crash, I decided to try to make an impact, especially since my own son is about to start driving on his own, soon.

My old partner lost his son to a car crash just a few miles from my house. Another friend (the prosecutor) lost his son as well. I helped get him out of the car and went to the hospital with him but he died in the chopper on the way to a trauma center. Those 2 hit really close to home.

After all my efforts, and some cash layed out for the training, I found that in most cases I was actually losing money to do the classes because you only get paid while actually teaching, the travel time and gas to get there is on you. My boss there is trying to do what she can to keep me there, but if something doesn't change, I probably won't be doing much more drivers training. It's kind of a shame because I do enjoy the job.

I just started selling new cars a few weeks ago. The dealership I work for is very customer service oriented and most of our customers are repeat business.

It is really nice to work somewhere that people are happy after dealing with you (in most cases). Does wonders for your outlook as well.

I'll say a prayer for all involved, you included. It's a tough way to make a living.
