welfare part II
How interesting that so many of us know a person or two who has used the welfare system as it was supposed to be used, a short-term program to get through hard times, and many, many people who treat it as a life-long "occupation." How interesting, too, that although trillions of dollars have flowed SE DC, most of West Virginia, Appalachia, and many other poor parts of the country, all those areas are still miserable, poverty-filled hell holes. I think that shows us quite well how the program is working.
And let's be honest, SSDI is welfare. Plain and simple. It's money the government gives a person. You can talk until you're blue in the face about all the money you contributed and how you're just getting that back, but the average person gets back all his contributions and interest in about 3 or 4 years. I don't know how long the average person is on disability, but I bet it's one heck of a lot longer than that.
Our government has turned into an income redistribution machine. It takes money from people who work hard and gives it to people who "can't" and won't work. My wife and I do without a lot. We take very few vacations, don't own fancy things, and we drive old cars. We do so so we can save for medical problems and retirement. Other people blow their cash or simply choose not to work. And guess who is going to have to pay whom.
If you can't take care of yourself then it is time for you to die. Yes, to die. If you don't, you just become a parasite. Somehow America has gone from a land of hard working people who suffered in silence and who would be ashamed to take a handout to a bunch of lazy slobs who feel entitled to stick their grubby hands into other peoples' wallets.

my father died when I was 13 months old. I have 3 older siblings. my mother collected SS benefits for us kids until each of us kids graduated High School. Would you say my mother was lazy[?] 0 -

I will add: that when I worked, and even now, it irked me also to see
those that could work abuse the system!! I do know that there
are FAR too many of those around.
What irks me even more is the politicians that feel a 2% increase per year
is sufficient, but can vote themselves 40+% per year, because that's
"what's needed to get by". Then they feel that every tom, dick, and harry
that floats in here can jump on the gravy train, while contributing little
, and trashing our country.
With the 2% increase per year, I figure I losing at the very least
2% purchasing power ...every year.[V]0 -
So, we should clean out the nursing homes, assisted living homes, MHMR group homes and facilities, Alzheimer's treatment homes, etc, and just kill all those people?

Jeez, don't really see where I said kill anybody. I did say that if someone can't support himself, than it makes sense for that person to die. A 78 year old who is no longer able to work, who requires expensive medical care, who needs all sorts of attendents to change his diapers and feed him--it's time for that person to die. Same thing goes for a 38 year old and even a 28 year old. If year after year a person is unable to support himself and is a burden on others, then it's time for that person to die.
Again, I didn't say to drag all the people out of nursing homes and shoot them, and if those people are financially solvent and want to stay hooked up to machines and defecating in their diapers, fine by me.
When those people, though, expect me to support them because they are old, can't get off drugs, have bad kidneys, are depressed, don't want to work, are alcoholics, or whatever, then I have a real problem with that.
This is supposed to be a free country. You're free to do what you want, and I'm free to do what I want, but you're not free to take my money and spend it. It's really rather simple.
You may not have picked it all up, so I'll try to make it even more simple. If there's a bunch of squirrels in my backyard, say 6, and in the winter there's only food for 4, I don't go out and scatter seed and set out water and so forth. I also don't hang out the window with my .22. 2 of the squirrels are going to die of starvation because they're not able to keep up with their environment and meet their needs. The other 4 are going to live because they can meet their needs, and when the 2 die nature will be in balance.0 -

It's preaching eugenics, no matter what it's cloaking it under.
I'm sure it makes next to nothing and it wants a bigger piece of the pie without earning it.

I have always hoped that when the time comes, I will have the means and guts to do what is is right. I don't think I want another person to wipe my a$$ or change a diaper for me. If I have lived a reasonable good life and higher beings deem it right, I want to die in my sleep or maybe lightening strike me. If none of the above happen, I hope to have a pill that I am mentally able to take and end it all gracefully. I don't want to die in a nursing home wearing a wet,or worse, diaper. Tom 0 -

People here have a program where they can get land for $1....100 year lease.
Then they get welfare and thus have a free place to stay and free income for food until they die.
You are paying for it. There is no Federal taxes here to pay for it. Now they get a "Quest" Card....it's a credit card welfare program. Really. Abused to death program sucking money from your Treasury.
So don't go whining about some old American on SSDI or welfare....atleast they paid their insurance premium into the program to get benefits.
What about 30+ million illegal immigrants getting welfare, free school for their kids, Social Security...and on and on....when they never contributed a dime.0 -

problem a) it's chinese. problem b) once again you're comparing oranges and apples, what's family got to do with the whole society? I am not your family therefore when SHTF for me, say I lose a job, you're not going to support me or my family and I don't expect you too, and vice versa. Does it make sense?

Well, all the money I have given to the government has sure as hell not been voluntary.
Give it back + an equitable rate of return...and THEN we'll talk about your program, 'cause I'm all for it.

I know. It's a long talk, I would think it's kind of obvious why. If not, try to look at different aspects of society (such as demographics, psychology, economics, politics, etc.) and long term effects of various events, for instance, passing of 16th amendment to the US constitution and FRA and what events preceded it, or why and how the revolution happened in russia and where commie ideas came from and how they spread and what they achieved then and how they are useful now. You are splitting hairs since those people would die just as surely as if they were lethally injected etc. which is the point besides the fact an injection is "nicer" than dying of exposure.
Also the story is like a parable, hence it does not matter the specifics of ethnicity and the family in the story is supposed to represent society.
