I am a bit nervous!
First of all I am a bit ashamed to admit that I had not been to a dentist in well over 12 years! I do not like them and never have!
Well the VA approved me to see a local dentist which I did today.
All in all my teeth are not to bad considering how long it has been since I have been to a dentist.
But I am going to need a deep root cleaning were they numb you up and all to do it. I also need to have a damaged filling fixed. And he wants to put a bridge were I have 2 missing teeth that I lost over in the gulf.
What the hell did I get myself into?????????

GRD:
I went to the dentist for the first time in 21 years this past September. Exit physical from the USN in 1986 was the last check up. Needed a little cleaning and had them finally pull my last two wisdom teeth. No cavities, no gum disease, 1.5 hours in the chair, no big deal. Good to go for another 20.[:)]0 -
Man, don't you just love it when they put that needle in the upper gums in front. Feels like that needle is going straight up into your nose. Nothing else quite feels like that.
Had a deep cleaning done two years ago. I learned my lesson real quick to get cleanings more often. Actually the worst part of it was holding the jaws open that long.
Good luck.0 -
Tell them you are the world's biggest sissy and they take extra care. 0 -
GRD, don't be a Pu*** now. It ain't nuthin, that deep clean BS. I had it done several times, mostly they numbed me up and did it, but the last time someone forgot and just did it. I promise it ain't that bad. They just scrape around and pick and stab and stick and go on. The bestest part is..well, you seem to be making the VA pay. I'm a military retiree and I pays me own. I need to talk with you, see how you do it. I'm about twenty or thirty thousand into buying houses and boats for my dentist, and that doesn't count what my ex employer pays(Not the VA, I don't get crap from them.) I'm missing out somehow. I don't mind the pain. What hurts me is the paying. 0 -

As 100% sevice conected disabled I qualify for dental and eye from the VA along with all my medical care.0 -
You should go every 6 months and get them cleaned. Very minor process after that. [:D][:D][:D]Biggest problem is I don't want to eat right after and get them dirty.[:D][:D][:D] Drinks sure are good though.[:p][:p][:p] 0 -
I went to the dentist today, Gitter, for the first time in a couple years. Got a cleaning. Still never had a cavity.
No point to this post. Just bragging.0 -
Follow my old grandad's advice. He was 88 and never had a cavity or lost a tooth. Rinsed his mouth with peroxide four or five times a week and brushed before church on Sundays with Comet Cleanser to get rid of the nicotine stains. Never had a problem with my teeth until my 30's when my wife made me go to a dentist who didn't properly sterilize his tools and caused me to get a gum infection and loose a tooth. Went back to the peroxide rinse every day until it cleared up and haven't been back to a dentist since and won't ever go to one. If I loose my teeth it'll be because of something I did or didn't do, not because some Dentist's autoclave is on the fritz. 0 -
Ahh, I see..You deserve it, my friend. I'm a retiree but not disabled. Thank you. 0
