Just take a pair of pliers in with you. Use the pliers to grip the dentist by the jewels while explaining "now we are not going to hurt each other are we." Things should go very smoothly from that point on I would think. Or, you could just opt for the gas.

Man up, if you want to still be using those teeth when you hit 50 take care of them!

It only hurts after the novacaine wears off. Wait until you sip that ice cold, golden foamie later that night!! [:0] Temperature sensitivity like you've never felt before!![:D]

See if anyone in your area does Perolase (Laser deep cleaning). It does a better deep root cleaning and there is no cutting or stitches. My dentist is the only one in North Texas who does it, so it's not real common, but it is a breeze and I'll never have the old cut, scrape and stitch cleaning done again.

Ok, now I would be nervous. I had no idea the cut, cleaned then stitched. I light of that I should not have thrown in the smart remark about the pliers, or maybe that is even more in order. Take care GRD and hopefully things won't be too rough.

hey, just be grateful that you can have this done. many folks (like me) can't afford a trip to the dentist without insurance, just yet. it'll probably be worst for me, when i finally go! i keep holding out, hoping that my office picks up an insurance policy.... i should probly just suck it up myself!

He said there was no cutting or anything like that.

They do it with an ultrasound or ultra something I thought he said.

It will be alright Kevin. Go and get it over with. Putting it off won't help.

I know I'll be allright. I just don't like pain in my mouth.

I turned this way after wearing braces for about 4 years as a kid.

It is called "scaling", and is painfull as all get out!
Bring a box of tissues to wipe up the tears, and be ready to spit blood about 3 dozen times.
    Enjoy!

Actually it only remotely hurts in the front.
    You will live![;)]

it's not that bad,...I had 4 baby molars pulled, and then the 4 adult molars behind them before age 10 to make room. I had a wisdom tooth out last year and it also wasn't that bad either. From what I have heard,..I would check into the laser cleaning as the old method, from what I hear, can have a lasting healing process. I hate dentists too,..but I go.

I would be too Kevin. I really need to get some dental work (a bunch). The VA acknowleges that mine is service connected, but keeps turning me down on my referals. As much as you hate the dentist, you'll be glad you had it taken care of once it's all said and done. Good luck!

A good old fashioned sandblasting wouldn't hurt. Numb your gums with a quart of wiskey, first.

If it's the ultra sound you won't even feel it,just hope they keep the suction going real well or you will think you are drowning.

Once you get those two missing teeth fixed, you just won't look right living in a trailer.

    Chew Cloves.

They contain lidocaine and will numb your mouth up.

I hate dentists and doctors too.[;)]

Teeth are like brakes on a car.
Once there is a problem, it only hurts more and costs more the longer you wait!!
    Good luck!!
Dentistry is not nearly as painful as it used to be!!
That being said, I'm scared to hell of going to the dentist!!

It is not all that bad,the program will contain a $130.00 tooth brus and special mothwash,I just completed the 1 year ordeal, worth every penny 1.200, and that was the real pain.

GRD - Based on what I know of you from here, and what you endure on a daily basis, this will be small potatoes. The pain goes away and is non-recurring, unlike your other condition. Plus, when all is said and done, you will have a winning smile when you post your mug on all those "What are you drinking?" threads.[:D]
