I saw a piece on the news just this week that mentioned some increasing percentage of Vermont residents in favor of splitting off.

A bunch of Vermont secessionists had a meeting with a bunch of southern secessionists in (I think Tennessee?) within the last six weeks. The east-coasters and the southerners have very different reasons for wanting to secede, but they recognize common ground in wanting to do so.

I don't see a secession coming by any state, any time soon.

Federal troops will move in. To preserve the union. We've been down this road once before. Joe

There are not many federal troops to go into action against a rebellion. Mormons are pretty patriotic. I don't see them starting a secession. Texas has the wherewithal to pull it off. What about the south?

Texas I can see. Idaho & Utah, while containing the highest population of militia, are land locked; making a secession very impractical.

I think for Idaho to go we would need Oregon and Washington to go with us, and Montana if they wanted.

They prefer the men's room at an airport! They get awards for that![8D]

Texas is the only state that actually voted to get in to the Union so there is the legal question; Can they vote themselves out???

    None, not one, dream on.

Jackson is not coming back from the dead to lead the charge.

140+ years ought to be enough time to get over it.

    ALASKA,
Huge natural resources and lots of land. Add to that super-oppressive federal claims to illegal land ownership, Indian give-aways and insane interference with States Rights.

    Free Alaska,

Sell oil wood, fish, coal, pretty pictures, and tourisism to the lower 48 heathens.

Piss on the lower 48 free Alaska.

P.S. If you cut Alaska in half; Texas would still be number three in States size.

That's my thought. They just couldn't forcefully do it.

Not really. If you can undertand the basis for Jefferson Davis' quote of "Truth crushed to the earth shall rise again" then you will better understand the "true" meaning of the "South shall rise again". In the minds of free men, especially, the Scotch-Irish, the South will most definitely rise again, as it is doing right this minute with the disgust and outrage Americans have for our one party system, the D&R Party. You might likely be a part of this "rising" and do not realize it.
