Janie PorterTampa, Florida - If the red flags were going to go up, this was the time.
Thursday night, Tampa Police were conducting a random sex offender check and knocked on 52-year-old Raymond Gomez's door.
When he answered, he was naked.
"He kind of stood behind [the door], and his eyes were as big as saucers," Ofr. Felicia Pecora recalled.
"I just thought, he looked like people look when they just get out. when they're naked and you catch them. So, I said, `Are you naked?' And he said, `Yes.' And I said, `Well, put your pants on because we're going to do a check on you.'"
Gomez did and then let the two officers inside. But as he was talking to them, another red flag went up. Ofr. Pecora noticed he was pacing deliberately in front of the bedroom door.
"That's when I kinda stepped in the bedroom. And as I walked past the door, I saw a young girl in the bed like this," Ofr. Pecora said as she made a motion showing a stiff body, "with her hand kinda hidden, and I said, `Who are you?'"
The girl first told officers she was 18, but she is 15. She said she'd met Gomez about seven months ago through a Christian chat room online. But neither of them were using their computers to access the internet. They were using cell phones.
"A lot of times parents don't realize kids can get access to the internet through their cell phone. What she said was a 50-cent chat session, and that's how they met," Ofr. Pecora said.
Since then, the two had talked on the phone about God and religion. Eventually, Gomez visited the girl at her house in Bartow when her parents weren't home.
Since then, police say the two had had sex about 20 times at various locations, including Gomez's home Thursday night.
The girl told officers, earlier in the day, Gomez had driven to her house in Bartow to pick her up.
Gomez was arrested Thursday night for violating the conditions of his parole, which include staying at least 1,000 feet from a child, not using the internet and keeping a driving log.
Gomez has been a registered sex offender since 2002, when he was charged with having sex with a child under the age of 16 in Hillsborough county.
Detectives think there is at least one more victim. If you have any information, contact Tampa Police.

Sounds like Gomez has a bright future. [V] 0 -
Ole bubba in the joint don't like them kinds. He got his day coming[;)] 0 -
Just about 12 months ago, a man walked into a local church (think: retro "Christian chat room" before the advent of the internet) and killed four people. His mere presence in that edifice did not make him a Christian--nor did his actions imitate Christ. Although I've never visited one, I don't imagine that online Christian chat rooms demand a profession of faith or a display of genuine Christlikeness in order for a person to participate. [:0]
I suspect that had your story indicated a buddhist or hindu chat room, you would have breezed right past it. But since you have this really twisted hatred for Christians, what's one to expect? [V]
Bless you anyway. [:p]0 -
If I had know you could get porn-star action from Christian chat rooms, I've hit them up a long time ago. 0 -

A joke. I find it hilarious that the majority of Christians proclaim "innocence" and "virtue" all the live long day. While, in fact, this type of activity seems common from that group. Anyone remember Sen. Foley or the Meth Minister? At least porn stars are up front about their activities.0 -

I took your post to mean that one should be aware of dangers lurking anywhere even Christian chatrooms.
I did not think you meant ...especially Christian chat rooms.
Ramtinxxl, I think you're being overly sensitive. I realize there are those on GunBroker who would find a certain joy in this being a Christian chat room, but you've been around here long enough to realize that BlackRoses is certainly not one of 'em.
Final thought to do with what you wish, and I don't want to speak out of turn, but, a gentleman would apologize...

Colonel Plink...
The reason for the post was to point out that pedofiles are everywhere and weill do anything to get what they want...No place is safe and if your kids are into those sites, then check out who they are talking to...
Also as the post says, parents please realize the cell phone your child has can also be used to access the internet...not just a ccmputer..
Another point is they had been seeing each other 7 months and he had even been to her house...Did her parents know who she was going with...was she lying to them to get out...
There was a case in Ten I believe where the girl married her coach..the coach was in his 40's I belive and the girl had just truned 16....Was this somewhat similiar?..
Oh yes Ram..one more thing....If it as a buddist etc, the post still would have been in here...and the reason?...CAUSE I WOULD HAVE POSTED THE DAMN THING....There is no "joy" in finding out it was thru a christian chat site, just as there is no joy if it was thru an atheist site....this story is full of whys and points out you have to be aware of what is actually going on ANYWHERE...0 -
Black Roses, Ramtin,
Is there anything I can say to offend you both so you start taking it out on me instead of each other?[:o)]

I wasn't aware that you were the Director of Internet Behavior--or that you have the powers of judging from afar. Whatever. I made my assertions based on prior postings. Why is it when someone post a news article about anything bad a claimed to be christian does, that certain people use that article to turn it to the person that made the post as being a "Hater". could it be that those people accusing others as being "Haters" are actually the 'Hater" as they cant stand to see that filth is rampant in the ranks of the religious.
Read the article and glean what you can from it. Point being evil is everywhere. Only difference now is that the media has better access and where this evil thrives is now coming to the forefront. You see it all the time, ministers, cops, judges, teachers, there is a never ending source for this type of evil and it is amazing how the "Christians" are the first to turn on anyone that brings out the fact that religion has been the hiding place of perverts for centuries.
I my statements make me a "Hater" then yes I am a hater of anyone that commits crimes against children, and the fact that it was a person of religious beliefs makes it worse in my opinion and the fact they used god to justify their actions is deplorable just as it is deplorable for somone to turn on another (bringing out the true nature of a christian} and call them a "Hater" over a post of some criminal actions.0 -
hate christians? whats new. the devil hated christ from the start. if he's got you hating christ-like people, makes you wonder whos side youre on.
christians arent perfect, just forgiven.
are you?
christians dont perfect their mistakes, they make them, repent, and go the other way. porn stars dont. non believers dont.
why?
because they refuse to be accountable to anyone but themselves. if you were really really a christian, you would have a personal relationship with Jesus and youd have a conscience that would tell you when you were wrong.
and when you are confronted with a choice, youd want to choose right instead of wrong to please him...so he can continue to bless you and your life...because you know he's watching you.[;)]0 -

Unsolicited? You're posting on a public chatroom. The very idea of which is to afford an opportunity to anybody with a computer to discuss the topic at hand. I noticed that how little your insight may be appreciated didn't stop you from posting, either.
I will concede having a faulty memory. I can't remember with intimate detail every post I've ever seen on GunBroker (or every post I've written, for that matter) So if BlackRoses is a part of the vast, left-wing conspiracy to denigrate your particular belief system, I apologize to you. I simply haven't seen it in her posts.0 -

I suppose you can back up your statement of "majority of Christians" with more than two examples. Two does not a majority make, unless there are only three in the group.
Thank you, drive through.0 -

So rather than yourself, you are accountable to a invisible patrone that is blessing you with everything good, but is not accountable for anything bad that happens? Pretty piss-poor role model don't you think?
Do we accept at face value when lowly humans take credit but shun the blame when something goes amiss? Why not? The Devil made them do it!

For the record, I'm a born-again, Bible thumpin, Jesus-lovin, right-wing, fundamentalist Christian. That said, I was not offended by the original post.
It is well known that nutcases look for any place to find a sweet, innocent young things who may be easily influenced, and one place to find them is on Christian sites on the internet (or Bible class, Sunday School, wherever Christians gather either in person or virtually). The fact that the wierdos are successful preying (no pun intended) on Christian gatherings indicates a failure of the church to train young Christians properly.
I also view many of the negative opinions I have seen on this forum and in other places about the church and Christians as a failure of the church to properly train, disciple and discipline it's membership, which has tarnished the image of true Christians and the church. Again, going to church does not a Christian make. Any wierdo can claim to be a Christian, giving other people a warped sense of what a Christian really is. I think if we all knew some true Christians we would all think differently. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be nearly as many true Christians as people who try to wear that label for one reason or another.
Huge problem, we can debate for weeks on end and not even agree on what the problem is, much less solve anything. I just don't think the answer is for any of us on either side to get offended or argue over it. They will know we are Christians by our love, not our convincing arguments, our attitudes, our offensive comments, etc, etc, etc.

Seriously, that's a humbling turn of phrase you have there, guy.
I'm personally humbled by it.
