the steel rebar and stuff that holds it together can rust right through, maybe the surface work they did made too much vibration and pushed it to the limit. dunno.
I say that because we did have that happen here in st. loo, one day a chunk of bridge (the walkway thing on the side) just up and fell to the highway below. they found out that the rebar simply rusted right through, which wasn't supposed to happen. they looked at other bridges and found their rebar to be badly rusted also. apparently it does happen.0 -

Dang, you beat me to it. Let's not forget Nancy, Harry and Dickweed Durbin will say it's Bush's fault. My guess is John Edwards will be the first Presidential candidate to make such a statement. He's an ambulance chaser.
