shot a coyote

Came home early today due to sinus and ear infection,I let the dogs out side and a few minutes later they were going crazy barking,It was 3 in the afternoon,I went outback and noticed getting ready to jump the fence was a coyote,I started yelling at him and he ran off,so I brought the dogs in
I called nunn and asked him if i bullets in my gun,,He said WHY????so i told him,as I was walking out to the pasture and sure enough he was coming back for more,so I fired he ran off just to turn back around and come back again,so I shot him again,missed,then I shot him again and got him in the back right hip,he jumped and ran off but the damn thing came back again and I shot him again,,missed and he finally took off.
this is the first time i have shot anything like that so I quess I need to get some more practice.
I dont like shooting animals but I dont want my dogs to get killed.

    what kinda dogs you have that a coyote might kill? is one of them female, and in heat?

    1911 Yotes will kill just about any dog out there...they usually send one yote in to bait the dog out away from their home and then the entire pack jumps on that one dog...Yotes kill dogs every day around here...cats too. The only thing Yotes are good for is target practice.

    We have two dogs small enough for a coyote to carry off, a mixed breed female and a male rat terrier. Several people in Greenville have lost small dogs to coyotes. They let Fifi out to potty in the morning, then hear a yelp and look, and see a coyote bounding over the back fence with Fifi in its jaws.

    If a dog is too big for a coyote to kill, it will lure the dog away from home, and lead it to the rest of the pack, and they will all kill it.

    We have lost ducks, geese, and sheep to coyotes. Several outdoor cats have also gone missing, possibly taken by coyotes. They are overpopulated in this area, and are not afraid to come up to occupied homes and take small pets and stock.

    i guess mine where to big they never even stepped foot on my property until after my last dog got hit on the road, i had a pack that lived on the edge of my property, i never bothered them, they never bothered me, until our last week living there i suspect it was them knocking off my chickens and turkeys, but if they ever got brave like they did with dawnie i would have done the same thing, i had plans to smoke their den out and pop them off if the need arised, but we moved

    dawnie ,FWIW my wife didnt like shooting my 12 ga (althou she did shoot it and was pretty good from the hip). i surprised her with a 20 ga which she is comfortable with .it is a pump remington ,loaded with buckshot would of better protected your home .

    good job thou ,we dont like yotes round here either .we worry about our dog out at nite also .
