Giveaway: Book Winner -- cubslover --
I've been a radio student of Dave Ramsey and his "Financial Peace University" via the AM radio waves for several years. I'm addicted to his attitude and approach towards saving, investing and living like no one else now so I can live like no one else later.
I've been reading his book "Total Money Makeover" and it's telling me a lot of what I already learned having had an interest in money/Economics since high school. I'm also learning a lot about our culture of "live for the moment". This giveaway is for the book.
If you know someone that needs a real wake-up call or would like to learn more about the pitfalls (predatory lending, buying a car the wrong way, setting up a personal plan or the consequences of failure to do so) just drop your name in a hat. I think I've been doing the right thing for the most part but I still bought the book. It's a fascinating read. It's not heavy reading so I'd recommend it even to high school students or junior high students. I'd like to get this into the hands of a young person--maybe someone who is coming into the real world a few steps behind because of factors beyond his/her control.
Either way, it's up to you. I have just found this book to be so helpful and potentially helpful to others that I have to pass it on.
Drop your name in the hat. I'll draw on Friday morning before work and will announce the winner here. I'll place the order for shipment Friday night (provided that Verizon's unreliable internet connection is up and running).

I'm currently taking the Financial Peace University through the church I go to. It's great, I'm already planning my retirement and how I can provide a good life for my kids. Definitely woke me up. I haven't read much in the book as of yet, but what I have is great. Excellent giveaway.[^] 0 -
Hey, I'm young and could need a few words of advice when it comes to investing. Sign me up ids, thanks! 0 -
Toss me in Ids...and thanks![8D] 0 -
I like the way he describes his book on the front cover.
"A proven plan for financial fitness." It doesn't say "A proven plan for wealth" or a "proven plan for financial success" because that is all subjective depending on what you call wealthy or successful.
This guy charts a path that will keep you FIT financially. It's about habits that lead to good decisionmaking. It's not a shortcut. It's about living right financially.
Someone who is physically fit may not be Mr. Universe but will probably live a lot longer and have a much more fulfilling life health-wise. It's the same approach with Dave Ramsey.
Money doesn't bring happiness but people who are "fat" with their financial decisions aren't fit or healthy financially speaking and that can bring a lot of unahappiness.0 -

The book actually convinced me that I should trim some of my own fat as a symbolic gesture to get even more aggressive with my "plan". Hence, I'll be parting with one of those beauties that I bought from you. Someone is going to get a great deal on that too [:D]0 -
Making money is very very easy Ids, it just takes time, a bit of consistency, and some restraint. The rest pretty much will take care of itself.[:)] 0 -

Yes, but I have so many young soldiers with whom I have contact who make STUPID decisions in life. This man has empowered me to guide and steer the young fellers.0 -

Good for you. Getting started early is one of the real key elements to long term success and security. It can be done without the early start, but it sure is easier if you don't wait. We opened stock accounts for our kids within days of when they were born, and the pattern was set. They each add to the accounts like it was a calling. 0 -

My wife and I could use this. We're trying to pay down all our debt right now. I'm 30 and she's 25. Man I wish I had never signed up for credit cards right out of school!! 0 -
Sounds great, toss my name in the hat, I can have it read before I go on terminal leave. 0 -
THANKS FOR THE CHANCE, PLEASE PUT ME IN. 0 -
I'm in. Thanks. 0 -
Great giveaway IDS! Don't put me in for the giveway. I have been through "Financial Peace University" and have all the books and resources. Just wanted to let you know that Dave has a course and books for teenagers and even younger kids. They are great too! Started my 13 year old with them last year. The amazing thing is EVERYTHING Ramsey says and teaches is just basic, good old common sense. But boy, does our society and world have it backwards! Most of the stuff he says, you just slap yourself on the forehead and say, "DOH!" If you ever get a chance to meet him, do so. Talk about a high intensity individual! 0 -
Your description has me very interested because I would like to compare it to my beliefs. If you post the ISBN number you can still give it away to a young person and make it easy for me to get a copy. 0 -
Great giveaway ids! Everyone should read this book. No need to put my name in the hat. I have 5 sitting on the on my desk and an unopened case on the corner. 0 -
chollardgreens--Whats an ISBN number?
This book is used in hundreds of schools so it's not above high school students.0 -
Each book has a unique ISBN number. If I remember correctly it is the replacement for the old Library catalog system(??Dewey Decimal System?? or card catalog system??) If you are looking for a book on Amazon or the other better known but crummy web site you can type in the ISBN number and find that book and edition. The ISBN number should be either on the cover or inside the cover before the contents page(s) start. 0 -
International Standard Book Number. It's how books are identified. 0 -

This book may offend the militantly anti-Christian folks. Those who know who they are need not apply. A few quotes are sprinkled in the book.
As Dave Ramsey says, he's not telling you anything that Grandma and God haven't already said.0 -
I'll pass, but I just wanted to say thanks for keeping this give-away trend alive and well. Sooooooooo....
Thank you.....0 -
