Ruger Mk I in 22. cal.

Gave it to Dad as a X-mas present in 1979. Dad had it all these years but didn't go out shooting much with too it. He died recently ( Dec 2006 ) and I haven't shot it since 1980 when I gave it to him.

Guess I better go and see that it's in the same place he kept it all these years.

Last time I saw it, Sept. 2006, still looked 99.9 % new. With box and all that came with it new.

Dad bought us boys a Winchester Model 37 .410ga to share (3 Boys in the family). Then when I turned 16 I got my very first rifle a Ithaca Model 72 .22lr levergun. I wanted a rifle in the worst way, even more than a class ring. Dad was always scared we would shoot one of his cows, and was a big suprise when I got the rifle. I still have the rifle today. Not very pretty, but still functional. By the, way I am 47

Mom wouldn't allow BB or Pellet guns in the house for as long as I can remember that being said .

    " You'll shoot out your eye ".

Can't remember the model off of the top of my head but it was a Marlin semi-auto .22 rifle(Model 60 I think). My uncle gave it to me and even though it had a million rounds through it the dang thing shot great.

    Can't remember now.

It was either the Mossberg 20ga. bolt action my Dad gave me when I was about 13,or the Stevens Model 44 my Godfather gave me which was originally my Great Grandpa's.

Both have had tons of ammo through'em,but are both in amazingly good shape considering how rough I could be on things at that age.

My first gun was a .22 clip fed semiauto. I'm not sure what make it was. Bought it with paper route money from one of my customers who never used it anymore. Found out it needed a new extractor. Had another customer who did 'fixing' put one in. Had it a couple years. One of my buddies had a Mossberg bolt action. He 'needed' a semiauto so we swapped rifles. it was a model 42M(b), 2 clips, all papers, 2 screws to put in the clips to let it shoot .22 shorts. That was in 1948. The Mossberg is still in my safe, shoots fine, looks just like it did back then. He traded the other one off years ago. I shoot it every now and then. Will be passed on to my grandson some day.
    Regards, Bob
